Shoe Box Compressor

I was just curious if any of the GTA "Darksiders" own and use a "Shoe Box" compressor ?  I don't own one but I'm on the list and patiently waiting for one.  I was just wondering if anyone here owns one and if you do how satisfied are you with it.

Hey Jeff, I'm a big boy. My man cave has a big boy's compressor. I don't sit around for hours waiting to fill a tank.

My bad boy takes a whoop whole five minutes, and I can take it hunting with me because it runs on gas.

Been looking occasionally at his ebay stuff, but always miss.

I didn't think high pressure compressors were available in economic "home" versions - let alone gas powered.  Is this a home made rig Cactus Rat?  That's why we're getting this shoebox device.  So yes, please post details!

Gene I posted about it last winter. It was the “Flame Thrower”.

Pro Tec Air is were  I bought it. It only goes to 3200 psi. Just short of $2000. It works just fine for me.

Cactusrat.... sounds like you got yourself a nice compressor there.... glad it serves you so well.  I did look at the "big boy" compressors but the shoe box compressor should suit my needs nicely. My air usage needs are minimal, will be using the shoe box mainly just to top off my 4500psi carbon fiber tank every once in a while, so I'm not concerned about being able to fill the tank in 5 minutes and for my needs I just can't see spending 3 or 4000 dollars.  That being said though I, like the others, would be very interested in the details of the compressor you have if you'd be so kind as to post them

Ok, I see you posted the compressor info after I made my last post...  Very nice compressor but 3200 psi isn't going to meet my requirements, I need something that will go to 4500 psi.  Nice compressor though, enjoy it.

I am interested in these "shoebox compressors" too since I have left many a message at airtex regarding a compressor but never hear anything back from him. I think this shoebox just might fill the need for me as I only have a half a dozen PCP's & at that they are small cc charge tubes. Real air mizers they are

No the air compressor is not economically. I paid almost 2k for one that barely gets the job done.

However, I don’t have to find a place and drive over 100 miles to get there just to fill a tank. Don’t have to worry about having my tank test.

I bought it from Pro Tec Air.

The Shoes Box makes it affordable to most people and gives you 4500 psi.

For $430 I don't have a problem with it being slow what so ever!

Not having your tank tested is ?
heres a little story....my last tank failed its test because it had cracks
around the valve thread....now if I was filling it at home and didn't
feel that tests were needed...Well I mite not be here writeing this reply..

How much FPE would a tank valve have after leaving the tank with 3000psi behined it..??

After looking into them I am on the fence
I think a dryer should be inline between compressor & tank

i have had mine about 5 months. absolutely love it. a real mechanical marvel. for the price and convenience, you can't beat it. i am filling a cascade system of two 44cf scba tanks. yes, it is slow but who cares. with the cascade system, i get literally thousands of shots before i refill either scba tank- and a large expensive compressor that only fills to 3200psi would be worthless to me as the fill pressure on my gun is 3350psi.

I believe the dryer/water separator should go between the output of the low psi first stage compressor and the input of the shoebox.  A Lowes separator was talked about, somewhere.

I'd love to be able to use other methods of fill, but none are available to me here.  It's the shoebox, or pump.  I pump.  No big deal, 'til the shoebox is available.  Don't know if it makes a big difference on the moisture issue, but I pump indoors.

Ditto what dollarhunt said. Mine has filled a 62 cu. in. tank from 0 to 3000 psi tank in about 2 1/2 hrs,and a scba 44 cu. ft. from 0 to 4500  psi in about 10 hours. Don't have a lot of hours on it yet but so far I am pleased with mine.

Gary, how about time to fill from 2500 to 4500 on the 44 cu. ft. tank? 4 to 5 hours?

I haven't done that yet but I did take note of the fact that the pressure was going up at 5 to 600 psi per hour when ever I refilled the 44 scba tank. So 4 hours sounds about right.
