Just how much does a TKO brake quiet the report of a Disco?

I've been given a $500 gift card to Gander Mountain, and I'm eyeing a Benjamin Discovery in .22-cal.

I've read here that they can be fairly loud without a TKO on them, and I'm wondering just how much does the TKO reduce the report?  I have a Benjamin Trail NP with the integral barrel suppressor, and it is pretty quiet.  Would a TKO-equipped Disco be in the same ballpark?  Does it make it quiet enough to comfortably shoot in a backyard without disturbing the neighbors?

I have used several rifles such as the Disco with a TKO break and it will bring the noise down to a very quiet neighbor friendly rifle. I have only used the 7.5" breaks.. Good luck.

I have used several rifles such as the Disco with a TKO break and it will bring the noise down to a very quiet neighbor friendly rifle. I have only used the 7.5" breaks.. Good luck.

the disco does not break the sound barrier so the TKO  will work very well. my disco 22 is not loud at all with no TKO on it and I have neighbors 50 ft away. I say this if your neighbors are so close they complain about a stock disco then you are to close to them to be firing a rifle with the relative power of a disco

my disco was pretty loud without the tko, about the same as firing quiet 22 rounds from a 22 rifle.  With the tko its very quiet.  My neighbors are pretty close by and they can hear nothing when i shoot mine.

Hmmm, all good info.  We're on 1.5 acres, so the neighbors aren't close, but the house nearest us has a newborn and I want to be respectful of their need for quiet.  Having worked the night shift for 10 years and sleeping during the day, I'm VERY aware of people making noises when you really just want some silence, and don't want to be "that guy".

I feel comfortable firing CCI Quiet .22 ammo in my backyard (if I could find it anywhere, I'd just get a few cases of that instead of a Disco, but oh well), so if it's comparable to that even without a TKO, I'll be set.  Thanks!

I got mine from a member years ago and put the TKO on right away, shot it and thought something was wrong ,seemed too quiet, took it off an it scared the you know what outa me, sounds like a 22 rim fire.

Alright, it looks like Gander Mountain doesn't even stock the Disco in .22-cal anymore, and can't even order it from the factory, so I'll be forced to buy the .177-cal version instead if I want to use my gift card on an airgun there.

If I stick to 9-10 gr pellets at 900-950 fps, will that change anything regarding noise?

you would make more noise walking through the woods stepping on sticks. no way your gonna wake that newborn with disco and tko 1 acre away.  probably not even directly outside his/her window.much better than the trail.  with out its more like shooting .22 with cb shorts.  you'll be glad you bought it afterwards. .177 will be same as .22 noise wise. but i would shoot 10.5 maybe even heavier. depends on what it likes.

I agree with everything said.

I have a .177 Disco with a 6.5" TKO and shoot it on my lanai/pool enclosure.  Across the fence is my neighbor.  I'm sure they can hear it and I'm sure they know I'm shooting - but they probably think it's a BB gun.  No one has ever complained.

That said, I've been the owner of a Marauder in .177 for about a week.  If I had known then, what I know now, I would have started with the Marauder.  Baffles are built in, so no LDC is required/needed.

I was lucky to snag a refurb from Norm at Discos 'R Us and saved about $140 off new.  Enough to pay for a scope, rings and a lot of pellets.

I have a 2400kt in 22 cal with a disco tube on it running at 1200 psi. 

without TKO,. firecracker loud only good around 4th of july due to noise.

with tko, shoot anytime and doubt neighbors would even look up except when my pellet trap went ding

I have close to 5 acres and I wouldn't shoot without the TKO on a disco.  Just saying.

I have a heavily modded disco in .22 with a TKO. humping 900+ FPS.

My neighbor lives 30 ft away, one evening I was in my back yard sitting in a lawn chair with my disco,in my lap "protecting" our fig trees(hers included) from squirrels.
She was on her back porch reading.
She wants me to get all the squirrels I can, as they get her fruit and pecan trees too.

I shot one, and got up to go retrieve it, she asked if I was quitting so early, I said no I am getting the squirrel I just shot.

She was un aware I had just fired, and she was less than 30 feet from me.

Get the TKO, you won't be sorry...

Now, that being said, my gen 2 marauder in .22 is quieter still...

And infinitely more adjustable for efficiency, velocity, and fill pressure. Without having to buy parts and or disassemble the gun.

Yes, TKOs seem to work well on Discos. Get it ya won't be sorry, IMO it's worth the stealthiness.

my disco is not that loud. the only way it could sound like a 22 rifle is to break the sound barrier which a disco cannot. if you fire 22 CB rounds like you said then they are the same
