Marauder tune made easier

So, some of you have read my posts about tuning with a statistical program. The program (to me) really works. It reduces tuning time a lot and the amount of pellets used. I want to be able to contribute to fellow marauder owners like no other and thought this might be a way to do it.

If interested, fill out the top portion of the sheet with what you want or desire and I will run the program and give you settings. Now I can't say it will work perfect but, I can surely say that the settings I give you will get you extremely close to what you want. From there, you can fine tune to whatever you want or call me out on it.

It sure beats hrs of tuning and cost of pellets. All I ask is for you is to post a shot string when all is done and ofcourse, did the setting work?

Will take in affect the bstanley mod? Looking to start tuning my syn rod .177 I just got yesterday. I'm trying for 16 fpe with 10.5 gr pellets. How do I fill out sheet & get it to you? Just pm you with it?

It should also work with the O ring buffer mod. We can do a PM but was thinking about posting in this topic for others to read and have input. Just fill out the top portion and attach to this post or a PM or write it in a post and I will start running the numbers for you.

For me to start the test, the important values are desired FPE or FPS, and the fill psi you want to use.

Shorty, I'll do one stock. Then switch to an opened up valve, tp, and barrel port if I get time. If my new bullets get here for my Sumatra I may not have time for the swichover.

V = turns out from fully closed.
1/4 = 0 is starting from all the way CCW (no spring tension). So 1 turn is 1 turn CW from full out CCW.
1/8 = 0 is starting from all the way CCW. So 1 turn is 1 turn CW from full out CCW.

So when I get some numbers to crunch, I'll give you the tune you asked for plus an addition 12 tunes for various FPS and Various spread. Don't knock me too hard if the program doesn't get you exactly what you wanted. It should get you really close. Don't forget to post some numbers from the tunes.

Here's and example of an extended tune for my 22 synrod with a 10lb hammer  + .141" TP. It's actually pretty interesting if you chart the settings. Before the 10lb hammer, the hammer tension had alot of influence or was more reactive through the tunes. Now, the 2 most important factors are the velocity and throw.

Furthermore,
You can see why having an extremely low ES without HDD or Oring Buffer actually reduces you shot count due to wasted air. Maybe that's the wrong term, small window of the mechanical operation between the hammer and valve.

You can also see that when the gun breathes better (modified TP,valve,and guage port) would and should give lower ES's with higher shot count. Like the parts Hill is modifying and selling.

I thought Hills parts only gave you an increased FPE (>38fpe) tune with lower shot count from stock. That doesn't seem like that's all they do. From the data, it would appear as if they not only increase fps or may I say FPE, it reduces the ES with a higher shot count more than stock can ever manage. The parts also appear to be more efficient at lower fills due to the efficient use at lower pressures. I see this happening when using the larger TP and 10 lb hammer. The only thing I don't know about the parts is if when the parts are installed if you can run lower FPE's such as 20fpe with shot counts well over 60 with a low ES.

If your reading Hill,
Will your parts run a low tune (around 20fpe) with say 14.3 grain pellets with a shot count well over 50 with a 3-4% or lower ES for a 22. The reason for asking is because getting 80 to 100 usable shots from the marauder would be the holy grail for backyard shooting the gun.

Here is a result of running the 800fps tune with the +/-30fps. The numbers are a little higher than what was projected but, pretty close. After that tune, I increased the 1/8 to 5.5 and ran another string. Probably could have shot more past the 2000psi mark.

I submitted a fill pressure of 2400 PSI in my request and the PDF provided is showing a 2100 tune PSI for testing. Please confirm that for the 4 shot test you want me to fill only to 2100 PSI. Thank you.
