Formula for setting clicks on scope?

The turret knobs on my scope are one click= 1/4 " at 100 yrds. Is there a formula i can use to find the measurement amount per click at different yardages?

It's not complicated.  If one click is 1/4" at one hundred yards, divide the distance from which you are shooting - say twenty yards - into 100.  You end up with five.  Five clicks would then equal 1/4" at twenty yards.

Be advised that unless you have a really good scope the actual distance moved can vary.  You may find it preferable to work with mil dots and holdover instead.

If your scope is not perfectly zeroed (and most are not) then a change in horizontal can and will most likely make a change in vertical.

Zeroing a scope, there are multiply posts on this in this forum, is one thing.  Getting it to be zeroed and be at point of aim is another.

If you put the scope in a V block and zero it so that when it is rotated, the point of aim does not move off target, then mount it to the gun and start twisting the dials to get the point of aim to where the pellet is hitting, you just messed up the zeroing of the scope.

Once zeroed in a V block and then mounted on a rifle, the only way to keep it zeroed is to use adjustable scope mounts and set them up for your default distance ( Eg: 35 yards) and do not touch the adjustments on the scope except to make minor click changes for distance changes from the default.
