I found this chart in some of my old weather stuff.
It might be useful for FT:

That's very interesting. I usually don't go out when the branches or small trees are waving.

Thanks for posting because I've often wondered if there was some "natural gage" for determining wind strength! Years ago at a FT match a west coast shooter I was squadded with was making unbelieveable (to me) shots in 30mph wind gusts (later I was told that they were 30mph) and he would lift the reset string over his head, let it go, notice the bend in the string as it fell......then assume his FT sitting position and aiming off the killzone he allowed the wind to push the pellet to the KZ! This was amazing to me and he did it often enough that I didn't believe he was just having "dumb luck"!

less than 1 mph
Calm; smoke rises vertically
1 - 3 mph
Direction of wind shown by smoke drift,
but not by wind vanes
4 - 7 mph
Wind felt on face; leaves rustle;
ordinary vane moved by wind, flag moves from pole
8 - 12 mph
Leaves and small twigs in constant motion;
wind extends light flag
13 - 18 mph
Raises dust and loose paper;
small branches are moved
19 - 24 mph
Small trees in leaf begin to sway;
crested wavelets form on inland waters
Who shoots in 25mph+ wind?
(Yeah, I plagered, am a teacher, wha'cha expect?)
