Many of us begin with irresponsible purchases and continue from there.

Probably a totally irresponsible purchase. YOLO, etc.
If you take care of a quality rifle like the Beeman 97 you can get most of your money back when or if you sell it. Do you have a scope or are you buying one? Learning from my irresponsible air gun purchases the scope is something your going to lose money on when you sell it.
The 97 is a real nice rifle enjoy it. What caliber did you get?

Being responsible would be letting your wife know that you had extra money and was thinking about buying a 600.00 pellet gun
I like for my woman to be surprised. When Im excited that I got something that I should not have bought the complaining is not nearly as bad

I like my HW97K almost as much as I like my TX200 & R11. I like the synthetic stock more than I thought I would. There is something about the way the HW fits on the shoulder that will not have you looking back.

I went with the .177 wooden thumbhole version. Originally I was thinking of getting a PCP, either the mrod or the talon ss, both of which would admittedly be better for hunting. However, I already have a steroid 392 which is more than capable of killing the &^^& out of a woodchuck, so I figured I'd take the money I'd save on a tank and whatnot and go for a really high end springer. The challenge of learning how to shoot one well appealed to me. Also, I don't like the idea of having to refill a gun. That just seems annoying.
I was torn between it and the tx200, and prosport. Seems like the general consensus is that the AA guns have better internals and are a bit more powerful. But I like the look of the hw97kt better, the push button lever catch and the bigger loading port. I figured that I could take the thing apart and polish it and lube it up it would probably be about the same as the AA guns in smoothness. And if I really want to jack the power up I could get a tune kit.
When I saw a refurbished hw97kt in .177 on Pyramyd with a big old discount, and I simply couldn't resist and snapped it up before anyone else could.
Now of course the problem is that I'm all paranoid that the gun will be messed up when it gets here or something or that I'll forever rue my decision and wish Id gone with one of the AA guns. The *(&^ of it is that even though its arriving this week at my parents house in Massachusetts, I won't be able to shoot the thing until December when I go back home for Christmas (I live outside the country).
You guys think the Hawke Varmint scope 3-10.5x44 would be a good call? PA has it on sale. Also, probably should shell out for the adjustable mounts, right? Or should I just shim the thing if it has droop?

Wow I just re-read my post. I had no idea GTA had an automatic curse censor. That's pretty impressive technology. But for H3LL? Really? What is this, Leave it to Beaver?

Every forum has their own rules. They are nice enough to let me join, so I have no problem abiding by them.
Hope you like your HW. The thumb hole version is the one I'd want if I were to buy one. Have your folks check your gun when it gets there. If there's an issue, I'm sure P/A with take care of it.
What price did they list that refurb when you got it?

Rules are rules, and for all the great info on here I'm happy to watch my language.
Anyway the I bought it at $679.99, down from $799 I believe. If it turns out to be a lemon, I'll either exchange it for one of the air arms guns to stay in a similar price range, or alternately downgrade to the synthetic stocked thumbhole version.
I REALLY hope this one works out though. Such a sweet looking gun.

Jesse who responded to your post up a bit has my former HW97K. I really think these are some of the best spring guns to be had minus a TX of course and it is so close in my book that really either way to be a win.
Now as far as the 97 what to expect..............grins and fun!
Enjoy that beauty and let us know when it arrives with baby pictures!

TX's are over rated. That said, I owned a TX and a 97kt Blackline. Still own the 97 and sold the TX. Nuff said.
The TX's internals are
only
just a hair smoother
stock
. Drop a Vortex or V Mach into both and the difference is
long gone
. So really let the gun shine and get a kit!
TX has ergo's of a tank. The KT handles like a dream, superior ergonomics by far. Hard to beat a TH.
TX's are actually generally weaker than 97's (contributing to it being more smoother).
You made the right choice

Hey Rob!!
You made a great choice in gun and dealer!!
I have the wood TH SS look version in 177 and can't say enough glowing things about her!!
Tight as a drum, built like a tank and ridiculous accurate!!
I also bought a refurb Pro Sport from Tyler at PA......and was NOT happy!! After 6 months of aggravation Tyler took it back with a full refund and got me a new one. Awesome service so don't fret!
You are gonna love it bro......but you gotta wait till Christmas??? UGH!!
Good luck, enjoy and welcome!
PS.....get the best glass you can on top......she deserves it!!

Sooo fired up right now!
What do you guys think: drooper mount? adjustable mount? regular mount? I've read some mixed opinions on this.
Photos will be forthcoming...

If you can, go fr some Sportsmatch U.K adjustable rings or FX No Limits to really get the best out of whatever scope you put on there!
Adjustable rings are the only way to go!!

I like BLK adjustable 1pc mounts. I have 4 sets of BLK and 2 are adjustable. I have several other types but am in the middle of transferring everything I have to BLK.
