Hi chaps,Could you please help me identify the details relating to the pellet in the attachment?Where I am at the moment there is a very poor selection of pellets and I began by operating under the misguided view that heavier pellets would give better results with a magnum gun. Consequently when I saw H&N barracuda 21.14 I grabbed several cans to compare with Gamo Match, Gamo Magnum(power) & Gamo Pro(penetration). The barracuda's seemed to be much more consistent. And then I came across posts advising me that the shooting heavy pellets was a bad idea & various recommendations on what options people had success with in their guns. So I need an alternative and the only other option I can find here is the one in the photo, however I've been unable to identify any details for it on line. All a bit of a shame really as between the barracuda's where getting me some nice beginner's results. I'll have to drive to Dubai and see what they have there but in the mean time I was wondering if this would be any good. The gun's in question are Diana 460 T06 & HW80
If you're in the US or Canada, go here for the largest pellet selection in the free world: [] You can even sort by pellet weight and shape.I wouldn't worry too much about shooting heavy pellets in a 460 though. That thing is a beast, and a diet of heavy pellets shouldn't reduce spring life very much at all. When I first started airgunning with a springer, I too was worried that I was going to "kill" my AG using the wrong pellets. Then, after much advice here, it finally sank in that springs are consumable items with airguns. Just like you occassionally have to replace the spark plugs or tires on your car, you occassionally will have to replace the spring in your rifle. Even though it sounds intimidating at first, a spring compressor to open your gun is easy to build, and springs are dirt-cheap.In short, shoot what's most accurate in your gun and enjoy it.
Here's a link that may help you. It will show the difference of pellets shot thru a 460. You'll see that the 16-18g pellets give very good balance of fps/fpe and higher BC,,,over the heavy pellets. You only got so much power to work with, so a good balance is worth getting from it. Click on the "X" tab and it will take you to the tables they've chronied with all of the pellets that they used for comparison. Speed is relative...so don't get hung up, if your rifle is a little faster / slower, than theirs' is. Hope this helps:[X[/url]
