longer and heavier = better?

so im shooting with a friend last night in his basement. about 28 feet. and i realize something.
he has his xs28 and me with an xs25.
with the 25, which is shorter and lighter, i have to be very conscious of where my hands go, hand in a slightly different spot and I'm off 1/2 an inch.
I pick up the larger xs28 and put 5 in the same hole with out thinking about it. it seems like the larger gun , being more barrel heavy, made you just instinctively hold it in the same place every time. a balance thing i guess.
my 28 was the first springer i owned that hit what i was pointing at, maybe thats why.
any truth to this or is it all just in my head?

i added a weight to the muzzle of my blackhawk and put on a bipod. The thing weighs a ton but my groups are a lot better. With a springer I think balance is everything.
