I was interested in long range shooting with air guns, so I did some searching. I noticed that some of you on hear don't believe in long rang shooting with these guns, and thats fine. But I like to push things to there limmit, so hear are some guys who did, and I must say I am impressed.

Relax, Victor. No one said it CAN'T be done, just that it shouldn't be done WHEN HUNTING. Big distinction, there. I know for a fact I can consistently hit a 6" target with my .177 Diana 34 at 80 yards, but targets don't bleed. I could do better with practice and a solid rest, but I still wouldn't try taking game at that range, the pellet just doesn't have enough power left to be humane. At 80 yards, that rifle/pellet combo is down to less than 4 fpe. Holdover and windage get super critical, as does range estimation.

All that said, a lot of these rifles are capable of good accuracy at much longer ranges than most of us ever shoot them at. But then, if we all had 200 or 300 yards available in our back yards, we'd probably never have started playing with these "bb guns" in the first place :-)! Later.

Wow....impressive. And nice video. This summer I got to try that with my PCPs out to 200 yards....so far I've only shot them out to 100.

I have the availabilty of land to shoot at 200-300yards. Would not consider shooting at anything except a can at that range with an AG.

And, most importantly, I 'm not crawling on top of any half-^&* building to do so. I don't feel the need to play sniper. Or break my neck.

I started looking into long rang shooting after I read that some of you guys say that its was not possible to do so. I did some looking around and this is what I found. Just wanted to show you all. I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything.

There is a fellow named Harry who posts under the nome de plume "Yrrahh" over on the Yellow. I think he lives in NZ and has done extensive long range shooting on his farm there. This guy is phenomenal and has done hundred yard one inch groups with Sheridan Blue Streaks. Lots of posts there and always well written/documented. He does not shoot from an old barn roof at a saw blade (?) full of rust holes [to add more challenge?] but has put them out to about two hundred yards, chronied. He also published some data on lethality at one hundred yards, but I think that is with a PCP shooting fairly hot compared to springers. Of course, he doesn't post YouTube videos that make you a bit seasick.

I think Dave was really making the standard admonition against trying to stretch air guns beyond reasonable, humane limits. Sort of something that seems we have to bring up in every long range thread. Did notice that the guys in the video were not shooting live game and I only heard one mention of rabbits at one hundred yards with the second gun, which sounds reasonable, although I wouldn't try it in a 20kph crosswind.

Torador, jonny.177.22 had the basic point, but it's a long story and mainly bruised egos involved.
It's also the reason Gene and Bob and the rest of us really like keeping this place sponsor-free.
