So I sent that trail np2 back to PA, and ordered an R9 instead (the gun I really wanted).

Despite holding on to my paid order for over 24 hours before shipping, it looks like it should be here Saturday, just in time to give it a good break in before a planned squirrel hunt on Monday

One of the best springers to hunt with in my opinion, light, easy to handle and powerful. What scope? Post some photos.. Enjoy your R9 and good luck squirrel hunting

I have a UTG 3-12x44 compact (same scope except full size is on my marauder)

I usually keep it at 10x to easily match the settings in android chairgun.

The marauder is a little tiny bit heavy to carry in the woods - not that that's stopped me, but this will either become the primary or favorite secondary small game gun. The marauder does have a little more power - it's tuned to 30 fpe, but I think the R9 should have plenty for the close range heavy woods I usually see in the summer around here. Rare is the 50 yard shot - most are under 30 yards.

I have an R11 in .177 and it shoots at almost 15FPE. You will really like the R9.

No chrony strings or pics yet (my phone is charging) but I got outside and put about 50 rounds into paper this morning.

All I can say is suuuuwheeeet. I cleaned the barrel with goo gone and ballistol until the patches came out clean. It has a nice solid thunk, very little buzz or twang - which I suspect will smooth out. I didn't see any dieseling.

With the first 50 shots, I was getting (some, not all!) one hole groups at 15 yards offhand. I'll get a table, bag and chrony out tomorrow, hopefully!

The trigger is amazing - far better even that what I thought was a very nice trigger on my marauder. Smooth, predictable, and now, I understand my marauder has a little second stage creep. No adjustment was needed on the R9 though, to be very very nice and crisp.

This has immediately become my favorite gun, and I will definitely be taking this into the field on Monday!

I had originally got a trail np2, and returned it. This was its replacement. Comparing the two is just silly. There is no real comparison. One thing I can say though, is the NP2 was rated for 28lbs cocking effort, and the R9 is rated at 40. The R9 is far, far, far easier to cock. I know there is a difference in gas vs metal spring, but the R9 is smooth, and ramps the weight up a little towards the end - to be expected, but no part of cocking the NP2 was as easy as this.

I love it. It's also a nice match to sit next to my P1!

You also might fine the R9 has a nice little thump when you hit your target. My R11 makes more noise when it hits my spinner targets than some of my .22s.

First, you talked about liking your R11 so much that your TX was going to stay in the safe. I couldn't believe that was true, but this morning I took the scope off my TX and put it on my R11. The scope-less TX is now in the safe.
Now you're saying you want an R9, and I'm right there with ya. I really want a 15fpe R9 with an HW98 barrel.
BUT AFTER THAT IT'S GOT TO STOP!! (at least for a little while...)

i was shooting my new R9 today and shot it over the chrony got 16.1 with the crosman CPL's 960 average over 10 shots

I promise it will stop. Until the next paycheck comes in.

Now every day I pick up my guns and shoot them. R11, 97K, TX200, Disco, Condor, .25 MROD, .22 MROD in that order. I would shoot my Talon, but it is packed up and ready to ship (it was sold, but then it wasn't). When my CZ comes back from Paul Watts & my Retay returns home that will be two more that will get shot.

My advise to you my friend... "BUY MORE SCOPES & PELLETS".

Sounds like you got a real shooter. Fun setting up a new gun then finding the magic pellet. Enjoy! Some photos and chrony results are in order..

Well, my gamo 850 was there. It shot so bad I finally decided to break it down and see what is inside...it's a mess! Yay hobbies!
