No more hand pumping for *This* Guy!

Ok, once I run an outlet to my shop and a 30 Amp breaker in my panel.....and purchase a Great White tank from Joe B. - BUT...I'm this much closer to air independence!!!

3HP 230 Volt motor...should fill a Great White from 3000 psi to 4500 psi in around 6 minutes or so...from 'Zero' to 4500 psi should be around 16 minutes.

One of the guys on the Yellow bought a Bauer Utilus Continuous Duty dive compressor from a guy in Ft Lauderdale on Craig's list.
He buys very gently used 'top off' compressors from yachts and such (used to top off dive tanks when needed), fully inspects the entire internals, fully serviced with fresh oil and filter and upgraded with a motor that will work on your house current - your choice of 3HP 220 Volt or 2HP 110 Volt.

How much you ask? I paid $2500 + $200 Express Shipping.

It might cost $1000 more than a Raptor but I KNOW this will last me the rest of my lifetime with minimal service requirements...its a Bauer!!!

I had an electrician come install a sub panel with a 30 AMP breaker @ 230 Volts for my Bauer Junior II E-1 + two 20 AMP breakers @ 115 Volts for a quad Plex plug in for my lathe, mill & other future equipment.

For those that are considering a Bauer, be advised they ship WITHOUT a way to plug them in (at least mine came this way). There is an electrical box installed on the motor so your electrician simply needs to hook up a power cord - the box has a knockout so the cord can be installed through the side and securely fastened with a clamp.
Also, there is no 'On' or 'Off' switch anywhere on the compressor.

Since mine is the 3HP 230 Volt model, I had him install a 3 prong dryer cord 6' long and the matching 3 prong 230 Volt outlet (the 4 prong version is unnecessary - there's 2 hot wires and an equipment fault protection wire for a total of 3 wires to hook up).
I had him run a standard light switch to make the plug outlet hot - this is now my 'On' & 'Off' switch.

On the electric motor (mine is a Lincoln) there's a diagram for which direction the drive shaft will spin (CW or CCW).
You view the correct rotation from the electrical connection - this happens to be looking over the motor at the drive shaft, which means it requires a CW rotation to spin the motor the correct direction.

Ok, enough technical stuff...I don't have a bottle yet so I cannot comment on fill speed yet.

How loud is it?

Almost the exact same as my Rigid electric compressor I use to run my nail guns - which is what I would've used if I had purchased a Shoebox.

I will update fill speeds when I get my Great White...its gonna be a couple of months though.

You guys can imagine how short lived my 'slug testing' sessions are when I'm hand pumping a 290cc 70+ ft lb Beast of a .25 cal air rifle.

Fire 5 shots, pump 30 times, repeat...

Yeah, I am SO DONE with that business!

Once I have my tank and my 1:22" twist barrel installed on my 25 Challenger (or my Custom RAW HM1000X is in my hands)...THEN I can get down to business with some hardcore R&D on slugs.

Right now its just too much of a chore for me to dive into....

I ordered a Tiger Shark tank from Joe B today...I will post fill speeds next week sometime after it arrives.

Ok Guys...I got my 71 cu ft Tiger Shark tank today 

I did a 2 minute moisture scavange on my Bauer Junior II E-1 (3.5 scft/min) then filled her up from dead empty.
Here are the results:

0-2000 psi = 8 min
2000-3000 psi = 5 min
3000-4500 psi = 15 min

Total fill time from Empty = 28 min

Looks like a 20 min top off from 2000-4500 psi

At 15 min I closed the tank valve and purged the 3 bleed valves on the compressor (1 motor & 2 pressure chamber). It shot about 2 tablespoons of moisture out of the line purge by the motor and zero out of the pressure chamber bleeds.
I did it again at 28 min with the same result.

It yielded 4400 psi - I'm letting the tank cool down then topping off the last 100 psi and will see how many fills I get out of my .25 Challenger with 290cc Double Tubes...it may be a few days before I have a fill number LOL

All of our volunteer firefighters now know I have a 4500 psi compressor for their SCBA tanks 

I did a 2 min top off after the tank cooled down and ended with 4600 psi...its REAL consistent at 100 psi/min for fill speed at 3000 psi and above.

Now...if the Sheriff Deputy's would just get off the range today then I can *test some slugs*!

Yeah, I made a deal with a couple of squirrels...if they run along the treadmill belt to give my compressor power I wouldn't shoot em! 

I'm doing good selling slugs but this is YEARS of saving money for this stuff so that I was *finally* able to buy it!

I suppose in an 'End of The World' Mad Max situation (Yeah, Right! LOL) I could use a Bicycle with an 80 lb 'flywheel' attached to the sprocket, chain and compressor belt drive for a peddle powered compressor.
