HW30S or Fully Tuned XS12

Hello everyone, I am currently having a little trouble deciding on a new air rifle to plink with. I currently have a Gas Ram XS46u from Mike but find that shooting it is a workout due to the cocking effort and just weight of the rifle. I am thinking of getting a HW30S or a Tuned XS12 from Mike. With PA's current Coupon I can pick up the HW30s for under 300 but it is out of stock until the 30th. I can get the XS12 for about $100 less, is the Rekord worth the extra cash?

I should add that I had an Air Arms TX200 that I really liked but I just didn't like the overall weight of the rifle. I loved the low cocking effort, quality, and accuracy I was able to get with the rifle.

Since I bought the R11, all I can suggest is Weihrauch even over the TX200 which I love.

Thanks for the replies, I figured the quality difference would be worth it. How are the iron sights on the HW30s? I want to try and keep from scoping it as long as possible so I can teach my wife and daughters to shoot irons.

The sights are very good. Put a Williams sight on and you will have a fantastic light gun.

I've shot both rifles. I'd go for the HW30 for sure, even though it costs more. For me, the Rekord trigger makes enough difference to make the ease of shooting make me instantly forget the extra money spent.

Thanks again everyone. I have been reading tons of reviews and haven't really found a negative one on the Weihrauch. I went ahead and put my order in to take advantage of the $50 off coupon, it says they should be in stock on the 30Th so I'm hoping that I will be shooting it in a couple of weeks. I almost jumped on the R7 instead since it's in stock but I really want the iron sights.

I also ordered the cocking lever insert that way I can get it installed and avoid any issues.

What's the guest accommodations like? I'll load up the 30, and my waterwings, for a "practical" experience trial session.

Haha, the guest accommodations are slim sadly but i'm sure we could set you up. It would be nice to have a fellow air rifle enthusiast around. I have a lot of friends who are into powder burners but the second I bring out an air rifle that cost over $200 they talk about how a good .22lr would be more practical.

Jim, thanks for the link. I think that may be the way to go instead of scoping the rifle. I like the challenge of the iron sights.

I got an HW30S from PA back in January. When I ordered mine the website said they were out of stock and it would be 2-3 weeks but I had it 2-3 days later. So who know. The sights are excellent. The rifle is excellent. Buy some JSB RS 7.33 grain pellets when you order the rifle. If yours turn out like mine it will shoot the lights out with that pellet.

Brazos, thanks for the recommendation on the pellets. I think I have some of those laying around from when I was trying to find a pellet the TX200 liked.
