So as of Sept. 1, 2014 we in Colorado can hunt HOSP's, YB's, and Collared Doves w/o a hunting license...just need a Hunter's ED card.

From the 2014 Colorado Small Game Hunting guide:
NEw! hUNTINg INvaSIvE SpECIES As of Sept. 1, 2014, Eurasian collared-doves, European starlings and house (English) sparrows will be considered invasive species in Colorado. Because of this designation, these species may be hunted year-round. No license or Habitat Stamp is required to hunt invasive species, however hunters must have and carry with them a hunter education card. Hunters may harvest any number of each of these species and by any method of take approved for big- or small-game hunting. These species may be taken at night with the use of artificial light and night vision equipment. Commercial hunting of invasive species is prohibited, as is receiving or attempting to receive compensation by hunting these species. Eurasian collared-doves must remain fully feathered while in the field or during transport, except when counted as part of the mourning or white-winged dove bag and possession limit during the dove season that runs from Sept. 1-Nov. 9.

So, if we can take by any method for small game, and AG's are allowed for rabbit, nutters, Dusky Grouse and Ptarmigans...and I know HOSP's and YB's can be taken by AG's, then that should include Collared Doves. I will find out, but I think it will be fine.

So the farmer cannot pay anyone to take out these invasive species. That kinda not worthy.

Yellow beaks are edible too and are quite tasty. Breast out a bunch of yellow beaks, fry em quickly in a pan with some butter or perhaps some bacon grease and you've got a really tasty meal. I do it all the time

I'd think letting me hunt his or her land would be payment enough as it is! I mean really, do we NEED to get paid to spend a relaxing day busting birds out in the field?

+1 Permission to enter and shoot on their property would be enough for me. In some states, getting paid for a pesting job would require you to have an exterminators license. That might require you to have extensive knowledge of pesticides and poisons, even if you won't be using them.

While I agree, though him giving you a bushel of corn is payment even if you did not ask for it.

Just thought it interesting they would specifically prohibit payments.

It's Colorado.

When I lived in the springs, the standing joke was
"People that came to Colorado, came with one lung, and one nickel, and they want to keep both"

Given a chance, someone would turn it into a commercial venture,
I agree, nip it in the bud before it starts.

Just let me hunt on your land, I will take care of any bird pest you have for free..

And if you let me hunt deer there, because I take care of your bird problem, even better.
If not, I still will take care of the birds, for free..

I wish michigan had collared doves. We have morning doves but you can't shoot them. B.S!

And they are big suckers compared to mourning doves..

He can't pay you to shoot them but he can pay you for the company.

Well, bigredhunter00 and I have a permission, now it will be on. And you can hunt them at night. I know quite a few places they roost at night. Sorry, may sound unfair hunting them at night, but I am going to have me some fun, and I like night shoots. The invasives are in for it now.

Just a FYI on night shots on roosting birds.

Make sure you aren't very close to them when you shoot.

When you do pop one of them, they get startled, and fly off, and poop as they take off to "lighten the load" so to speak.

It starts raining pigeon poop.

You don't want to be under their flight path when that happens.

(Don't ask me how I know this.....)
