Brad & Petey-How's this compare to the 30: size, weight and cocking effort wise? I've fallen hard for my 30, and been looking at the 50 to replace my NP eventually.

I've fallen hard for my 30, and been looking at the 50 to replace my NP eventually.I'm not Brad nor Petey, but I had both the HW50S and an R7 (HW30) until recently. The 50 is a bit longer, a bit heavier and a lot harder to cock in my experience. I could sit and shoot the R7 for hours, but cocking the 50 was more like work after a short while. It's a great gun, but not as pleasurable to shoot as the HW30 and since you asked about twang, the 30 has less twang, if it has any at all.
no disagreement from me, I also have the above mentioned muzzlebrake but the 30 is a handier little rascal. I am very pleased/lucky to own both units

I use to have a Hawke like you have on your HW30, I really do not know why I sold it.

However: the cocking effort can be lessened with addition of a Straight shooters muzzle brake and a JM kit.The JM spring makes for nice smooth power and easier cocking.... I had a V brand kit and the shot cycle was nice, but snappy and considerably harder to cock. It shoots JSB 8.44 @740 FPS ....Power / weight = Great package. Size wise, it sits right between the R7/HW30 and the R9/HW95.Plain Jane Stock - Hand Polished , JM kit, SS brake , Tim E Setback trigger, Hawke varmint SF scope....LOVE it!

The stock is incredible.. Its the original? Real nice set up. The nicest HW50 Ive seen.
Well if it's not up to Petey's standards, Petey will make it so. Wish I had some Petey skills.
