Great job & a great idea! Giving me ideas for my HW30S. I want to add some weight though but with a similar concept. I shot mine in a small FT match last Saturday and did really well. Just need to add a pound or so to steady the rifle up some.

Beautiful work. I'm looking forward to a new 30s soon. Saving my pennies. Did you use a router for the grooves in the forearm? If so, what bit? I have some woodworking experience, but I won't attempt this on a new HW just yet. Maybe I'll butcher up an old B3 I've got laying around.

Thanks everyone....I didn't take many pics of the process....the pics I do have are on my phone and it's not giving them up .
The slots were cut using a Horizontal Router (universal) and 6mm bit.
I'm not too good at this.. I got all the lines laid out even and in their proper places and then I had to get some help .
A hearty Thank you to Mark at The Sawdust Shop in San Jose Calif for his assistance. Now I know I can do it again....not too certain I want too just yet...My 50s may be the next one to get the treatment.

Grip and fore arm are done with Rust-Oleum Truck bed liner... This product is the best..very fine finish , like 300-400 wet\dry paper. Dries quick and re-coat time is almost instant. ( if it's a 100 degrees out , as it was that day)
You can layer it to get a more aggressive texture or go light = more fine. It doesn't booger up like other brands and fling blobs everywhere.

Just had a thought...maybe my 48 needs some attention.

Incredible job, bro. Throw on a barrel sleeve and it'd be a twin. (although I do like that muzzle weight..is that oem or jm?).
Can't believe how lazer-straight the lines are on the grip cap area. Craftsmanship!!!
