I'm just kid in his 50s who likes to shoot stuff.
I prefer firearms, but it's an expensive hassle to shoot them these days... and that's only if you can find the ammo.
Anyway, I like being able to walk out to the patio and throw a few pellets at my homemade pellet trap, or some cheap cans of soda or my favorite, target, full cans of Coors. Can't stand the stuff so I love blowing up cans of it
.
I found GTA on google, and I mainly came here to try to find out what kind of range I should expect from my Crosman Nitro Venom.
I've been shooting at 25 yards, bench rested, and I can't get consistent groups.
I've tried a few variations of the artillery hold, including resting my hand on the beanbag with the forearm of the rifle on the palm of my hand.
I've tried several different pellets, and just ordered 3 more tins.
It's just terrible having to shoot all these different pellets to find the right one (read with heavy sarcasm).
Bull-nosed pellets seem to give me the most consistent results so far, but still not as consistent as I'd like.
I haven't tried wad cutters yet. they are in the order I just placed.
I just wonder if I'm expecting too much from the rifle, and I maybe should bring the targets in a little closer. Say 20 yards instead of 25?
Update/just adding a little info:
Other hobbies include photography, hiking, and just starting to get into videography.
Air Gun Library:
- 22 cal Crosman Nitro Venom (wood stock)
- Crosman 357 CO2 pistol
- 177 cal Crosman pump (circa 1990 something)
My day job is Software Quality Assurance Engineer.

Welcome to the GTA
I would suggest posting in the air gun gate to see if any other Nitro Venom owners may be able to give you advice.
Good Luck

Thanks for the warm welcome All!
L-Phant, I've actually started working through search results on the air gun gate to see if the info is already there. I've been hanging out in various forums for a long time and I've been smacked upside my virtual head a few times for posting questions that had already been answered
