Crosman 2300KT

PA's e-mail sale ad today piqued my interest in a 2240 for backyard plinking fun.  After looking into the Crosman Custom Shop, it appears the 2300KT would be less expensive than a 2240 with added steel breech, etc.  BTW, I would want .177 caliber.

Somebody school me on these two items, please.

I've never shot the 2240, but I have a custom shop 2300KT with the .177 LW barrel with a pistol scope that I use for target shooting.  I went the custom shop route because it looked to me that it was less expensive than doing the job myself, plus the pistol would be built by folks that have a lot of experience building them.  I'm happy with my decision.  The quality is excellent and it is easy to shoot well.

I have 2 2300's and you can't beat the price. it comes with steel breech, trigger pull adjustment. Just adding those things to the 2240 will cost more plus you have to do it yourself. It's even cheaper than buying a 2300T from PA.

I bought a stock 2240 and shortly after purchase I began to consider upgrades.  I thought I wanted a steel breech, longer barrel, and shoulder stock.

After getting the 2240 shooting pretty well (I'm using it as my 5 and 10 meter target pistol right now), I really didn't want to mess with it (still mostly stock, still has the plastic breech, the only internal upgrade has been a Mellon extended probe).

Looking at the Custom Shop, I found that ordering a 2400kt with the things I wanted was cheaper than sourcing the upgrades aftermarket.  The best part was, I got another gun for the price I would have paid to change up the one I already had!  I'm sure the same results are to be had with the 2300's.

I stopped short of 'pulling the trigger' on a custom 2300KT when the S&H charge came up.  It was about a quarter of the purchase price.

 Once in awhile they run custom shop promo codes and free shp'g. You can sign up for their emails or keep checking the site.

It's almost $28 now and promo/discount codes don't work on Custom Shop orders.  *sigh*

Right there is the difference Greg, I found the same thing when I built our second one ( I bought the first one from a member that was most already done). Not only high shipping but, it's a 3 - 6 week wait. I have access to a lathe and stuff at work so it wasn't a big deal to cut and crown the barrels for me. 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of other. I went for the 6 rather than the 1/2 dozen. And I discovered that I can do a pretty darn good crown to boot. The biggest savings is ordering the steel breech as parts. It's $16 shipping to order as a unit, $4 as parts.

I've been eyeing a 2300kt with the LW .177 barrel.

Can a HiPAC be fitted to the 2300kt?  It's not clear (to me) from the HiPAC site.

I just finished 500 crosman match wadcutter's in my 2400kt.  With walther barrel.  It's great at 10 yards, this thing will burn a .25 group off the bench... All day long.  Thank you crosman for the cheapest, funniest gun I ever bought.

Let' see...I got the 10" Crosman barrel, walnut grips, long breech, black muzzle brake and trigger shoe, and LMN rear sights.  I think that's about it.  C'mon Crosman.

A LW barrel on a pistol in my arthritic hands would be a waste of money.  LW barrels on my 853's; however, are a different story.
