Questions on a newly-pinned Disco.

So Big Bore Bart was kind enough to help me out in pinning the valve for my .177 Discovery. My question is, all other things being stock, what is the main weak link I should worry about? Bart mentioned something about the gauge. What is the maximum pressure I should attempt to put the gun at with the stock gauge, and if I need to, can someone point me in the direction of how to change it out for a Marauder gauge? (Supposedly pinning the valve with high tensile screws allows the tube to be pressurized to 3000 PSI, but I doubt I'll need all of that to get a nice curve on my shot string.)

Did you also tap the valve to 10-32?
I would not recommend filling to 3000 psi using the factory 8-32 size, regardless if you've upgraded to high tensile strength screws.

I tapped my 25 Challenger Double Tube 10-32 and used 180,000 ksi screws.

I've been filling to 3000 psi for over a year now without issue.

You will want to add a rear velocity adjuster - just order the one for a 2009 Challenger from Crosman for $30.

I ended up making a custom 84 gram hammer to really be able to use the higher end of the fill and my power (80 ft lbs) still only comes on from 2600 psi down to 1800 psi.

Your factory hammer is 60 grams.

You could buy the RVA and add a 54 gram Prod hammer for $16 and get a really awesome tune with a 2000 psi fill (lighter/faster hammer = better efficiency).

There's much more to the total equation than just using a higher fill pressure.

I got my gauge from McMaster for $12 or something.

You want to get the P-Rod gauge and gauge block.  That will fit perfectly.  You can't use a Disco gauge with the P-Rod block, different threads.  I am using my Disco block as a depinger, but it actually up'd my shot count.  You can PM me if you want to talk further.  I can always PM my number to you, too.  Let me know.

Indeed, thanks to a visit to another airgunner today. They are of the high tensile strength type.

Already ahead of you - the RVA was on it before any pinning was done.
