So I was at an Airgunshow this past weekend and saw this old R10 that was being sold by a friend of a friend. The rifle had been tuned with a trigger job by BesTunes (I don't think the man does business anymore) and the rifle is so smooth. The trigger on this rifle is....it's just superb! It rivals the trigger on a few FT guns I have shot. I actually plan to use the gun for Open Piston Field target. It is .20 cal. Pics will come tomorrow so be patient

Does anyone know how I can contact Hans Weirauch and see what year this was made?

I finally understand why people would advocate for just skipping the cheaper Chinese rifles and going German. I have an XS46U that has an MM tune and it is fantastic for what I paid for, but it can't compete with the German workmanship.

Tell me about the R10. How did it differ from the R1? When did it come out and how many were there? Do they still make em?

.20 caliber is good for hunting and target. Enjoy your R10.. Post some photos.

You picked up a very collectible and classic rifle in getting that Beeman R10.

And it was a very nice bonus to get one already professionally tuned too! I'm positive you are going to have a lot of fun times with it. Let us know how it performs!

It differs from the R1 by being lighter and I believe a bit more compact.

It was called the HW85 by Weihrauch, and came out in 1985. The current HW85 is not the same rifle, as it uses the main tube end cap like a HW95 does. The R10 has the heavy screw in end cap like the current HW97 utilizes.

The R10 was referred to as the baby R1.

That's about all that I know about the R10, besides the fact that my .177 R10 likes Beeman Kodiaks, and hammers them into my backstop with authority. After a Vortek kit and proper lube job, she is a real sweetheart to shoot. Very sharp and abrupt shot cycle, and good follow through is mandatory, but it pays off with tidy little clover leafs at 25 yards.

I believe that it will give the Diana 48 a run for its money.

The Bluing is a little thin and the stock could use a refinishing (I have a guy who can do that) but I think it adds to the classic look of the rifle

It says "MADE IN WEST GERMANY" so I know this was made pre 1989.

I don't know what Best did to the Rekord trigger-but it is SWEET. It has about 3/8" pull and breaks at about a pound and a half.

Love that stock with the cheek swell. Yes the bluing is a bit thin but that can be remedied easily and look like new again.

That looks real good! But does the front sight get in the way of the scope picture.

How can I darken the bluing? Is it like a liquid applicant or is there special equipment I need?

Nope, neither the front nor rear sight interfere with the sight picture at all, which frankly, surprised me.

That's really nice!! Beautiful rifle, tuned by a pro, topped with sweet glass...what's not to love about that one??!
As for the re-blue, there are products you can use at home, but without the proper blueing tanks to do it right (along with the experience and know-how that comes from doing it) I think you'd be better served having it done by a pro. Just my opinion.
