Anyone got a 6000psi nitrogen bottle from Airgas lately?

This really not worthy. I was told there was a shortage of tanks due to surgical procedures need high purity 6000psi nitrogen. I can only get high purity 6000psi tanks that would cost 254.00 a fill instead of 70.00 for industrial grade.

Seems as though airgas does not want to deal with airgun/paintball fill stations. I called Praxair about 30 miles down the road and They told me 60.00 a year plus fees lease and 38.00 a fill. Ask them to double check and told them what airgas said. He said hmm, our list price is 183.00. We do it for 38.00.

Don't your area welding or industrial air suppliers have tanks?  They usually have them for sale, or lease programs.  That kinda cripples business.  Wow.
After seeing your last post, the lease and fill price isn't bad at all.  You can avoid the pickup/delivery fees by doing it yourself, of course. A temporary fix, at least.

I am a little worried they would loose interest too if I only filled the tank every year or too. If I bought a tank I'm sure it wouldn't matter, but for 800.00 to 1000.00 it defeats the purpose which is low setup cost. Might as well buy a Shoebox and be independent upon anyone for hpa.

I have the same problem here in western, PA.  I'm about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh and none of the local welding supply shops carry 6,000 psi nitrogen. Greco Gas & Welding, Ross Welding Supply, Alloy-Oxygen & Welding Supply, etc.. None have it in stock.  All say around $180 per fill and .25 - .50 a day tank rental, $91.25 to 182.50 a year rental.

I wouldn't worry about it when you sign the contract.  They have to provide, as long as you pay...you're not contracted to a certain minimum.    LOL   I'd take your dollar and like to have you as a customer...  A thousand of guys like you surely wouldn't bother me

No permit in Texas. They will even load them as long as it's not an enclosed vehicle. Everything I was quoted did not include delivery.

You are being BS'ed by them. There is no difference in the gas used to fill the tank, the difference is the fill protocol. Just like medical grade Oxygen and industrial. On "high purity/ medical grade" the tank is emptied and a vacuum is pulled on the cylinder to about -30psig. then filled. On an industrial fill whatever gas is in the cylinder it stays and more gas is added until full.

With all the anti's out there I'd tell them I'm filling tires with it.

If you carry 2 or more DOT cylinders they must ether be strapped/chained secure at 2 points in the vehicle or in a secured cylinder holder.

Strap them securely and vertical, and you shouldn't have a problem. Steelworkers, Ironworkers, Millwrights, etc.  been doing it for years, from jobsite to jobsite.  I "think", that trucking a single tank, doesn't apply to DOT licensing. But the safe transport method does still apply to everyone.  Anyway, That's how the supply houses deliver them in bulk.

The dry nitrogen used by hvac and refrigeration professionals is sold at 3000psi. It is a dry nitrogen alright but that pressure isn't enough to make plenty of fills.....if you can get the 6000psi bottles, it will have a different valve on the tank (not CGA580 like the 3k type).
That is the one to rent. Dry nitrogen of course is simply air without the oxygen content, so it wouldn't explode in the presence of any oil residue. (the air we breath has roughly 20.7% oxygen)
Anyway, good luck finding those higher pressure cylinders.

I called praxair, and air gas in tupelo(our nearest city )
The next closer large city is Memphis, and they don't want to rent to someone in a different state..
They are the only 2 welding gas suppliers in the north Mississippi area I can find.

I inquired about high pressure air,and industrial nitrogen.
One quoted $186 a year for the lease the other was not much different, and $56 for a fill to 6000psi on nitrogen.
But they would have to order the tanks, and have to have advance notice if I needed an exchange of the 6000.

On hpa, they can fill to 2400 locally, same lease price on the tank.

They can get a ultra high pressure tank of air at 3500 psi, but would have same price and advance notice as the nitrogen.

I don't think I am going to go that route...

That sounds more like what it would cost a year at the monthly rental rate here. Wonder why their yearly tank lease is so much more. With taxes and fees it's around 70-80 dollars a year here.

I didn't want to bother with it and scraped up enough cash for a used Shoebox compressor. I don't have to depend on anyone else now.

All I need is a tank, the local fire dept will fill hpa up to 4500psi carbon fiber tanks for free.
Or standard 3000 psi scba or scuba tanks for free.

I have a few leads on one, but haven't been able to acquire one at a reasonable price yet...

Here in Evansville, In., I was able to get a 6000psi tank(leased) for $150/5 yrs. The original fill/re-fill was $100. The last time I went to have it refilled, it was $150. I asked "why the increase?". I was told that it was just the just the price of nitrogen going up. I also asked about the 1/2 tank that I brought in and that I should get credit for it. I was told that they HAD to purge the tank of all contents and refill with new, and that is why I couldn't get a credit for what was still in the tank.
I really like the idea of pure nitrogen,but, may have to consider buying a compressor in the future. Those tanks are HEAVY and I'm not as strong as I used to be.

The Shoebox Freedom 8 is more than adequate to meet my needs. Now I am just going to get an 88Cu ft tank set up as the Guppy is barely enough for a few hours at the range and if it were a long day I would run out of HPA long before I was ready to go home

That seems like a great mod, but I meant off the bottle, so you could just shoot continuously without refilling.  I expect to get at least 450 shots from my 16.2 cu ft bottle that way.
