Under lever or break barrel?

Any thoughts as to weather an under lever or a break barrel is better then the other and why. I am looking at my first springer purchase and deciding between those.

Just my humble opinion. I think it is more of the quality of build than if it is a break barrel or under lever. My TX200 is very accurate (precise), but I am looking at a HW80/R1.

Yes, the quality of the build is important. But if you have the same quality, a under or side lever would be better because the barrel is fixed and doesn't change position.

Mine too. I have 3 under levers and they are insane accurate!!
Wanted a good break barrel and bought a HW 98.......it is just as accurate as ANY under or side lever!

Before I would answer your question I would ask, what will be the main use for the gun: Bench Rest, Field Trial, plinking, hunting, etc...

Then Price point, an HW98 like Joe P. has would be just as or more accurate than a Gamo CFR, but if I remember correctly it is a heavy gun, where as the CFR is about 8lbs, and maybe half the price.

If it is going to be a beat around the woods or truck gun for rapid pest elimination a TX200 at nearly $600.00 is heavy and very pretty but not practical....

Purpose and price will make the decision for you....

I've owned a fixed barrel .177 HW77k and several break barrel R9s and did find it a bit easier to shoot the "77" more accurately than my R9s, however I attribute this to the extra weight of the "77" rather than the fact that it's fixed barrel. Matter of fact, after owning and shooting the "77" for a couple decades I sold it last year and still use my R9. The reason is that the R9 is just plain easier to cock/load/shoot than putting my fingers into the "bear trap" while fishing a pellet into the leade of the fixed barrel gun. Because the R9 was easier to load and shoot, plus was a couple pounds lighter than the "77" I shot the break barrel MUCH  more than the fixed barrel, even for hunter class field target matches.

I do have to mention that the fixed barrel HW77k DID remove one variable when shooting........the need for proper barrel pivot bolt tension adjustment as it pertains to accuracy. Still.....I sold the HW77k due to little use and still have a R9!
