RWS/Mendoza Safety-Trigger Question

Hello,
   New guy with my first question. I have an RWS/Mendoza RM-600 that when I click the safety off the two stage trigger goes off also. It does not do this every time. I took the stock off and every thing looks OK and lubed lightly. When I take the safety off it will make a louder clung sound and the trigger does not work correctly. Other times it works as it should. Any ideas on what to check/adjust?

Don't know jack about that trigger. Having said that, is the trigger adjustable for weight or length of pull? If it is, back the adjustment off a little. You may have it set too light.

I'm sure someone who knows a lot more than do will chime in.

Ok, I do not see any adjust the trigger. I bought it new and have never tinkered with the trigger.

If the gun is still under warranty, send it back, with an explanation of the problem. A gun that fires by itself, even intermittently, is an accident waiting to happen.

Not under warranty any more. It wont fire by its self but hard to explain. When it don't fire correctly you pretty much need to pull triggers under full pressure to fire. The correct way is the front trigger is very easy to pull until you touch the second one to fire the rifle.

Find a safe backstop. Cock the gun and fire it with the action out of the stock. Watch closely how the parts are interacting. See if there are any places that might rub or catch.
I don't know how experienced you are. If you feel comfortable, tear the trigger group apart. Look for burrs or wear marks that would bind or catch . I'm working blind, here. I'm only suggesting the things I'd do, myself.

It looks like I have figured this out with the help of my sons eyes. It appears the scope shifted putting pressure on the Safety Lever Allowing Rear Cover Part # 555-75-1610 allowing it to elongate the holes slightly. You can see where it should be vs where it is now in the picture. It looks like a $5 part if I can locate one. Otherwise I will try a larger pin.

Check pyramiair. They might have the part you need. And get a better scope mount. An rws lockdown or a bkl one piece . clean the dovetails with alcohol before putting the mount on. You won't have that problem again.

Yep, already checked there and it dont look like they have it. I already had a better scope mount on my list of things to get but my 1377 is taking priority right now. Thanks for all the suggestions longhunter

I had the same problem with my Mendoza, the scope ring slipped and cracked the plastic guard. It was a long while ago but I think I got one at Pyramid Air. If they don't have one you could try Umarex for Mendoza parts. Call their parts department and ask if they carry it. You don't want to try taking the trigger apart without replacing the pin with a shorter pin to keep the trigger parts together. It's a project putting one back together if the springs come off the trigger blades. You could just remove the plastic cover. The gun will work just fine without it.

I have the RM-800. Pyramyd Air sells the plastic cap and the safety device. They both fit my gun nicely.

They also have the seals, springs and sights. That plastic end cap gets old and looses it's flexibility and just cracks when you try to adjust it. Hope this helps.
