Mrod Weight Reduction

Are there any mods out there that reduce the weight of the Mrod? I'm guessing not unless the stock makes much difference... maybe a tactical stock of some sort might help a tad. Short of cutting the barrel length I'm thinking it is what it is.

Not sure how hard it would be to do, but I figured that hollowing out the butt stock quite a bit would help.
Since the recoil thing is basically a non-issue, it shouldn't really compromise durability.
The one downside is that it would greatly affect the balance and handling.
I think they should make a slimmed down synthetic stock as an option.

I've seen a few Mrods with "tactical" mods where there appeared to be a black synth stock - or was it just paint? Looks aside, how much does a stock weigh? Maybe 1 pound tops? I'm sure Crossman didn't put anymore metal into the design than they needed to produce an accurate, quiet, recoilless weapon. But I'll tell you, my shoulder takes a beating after a couple of hours hiking. When I pick up my Gamo Whisper it's like a nothing in comparison.

Jim I agree that the mrod and many other airguns are heavyweights. The disco will spoil you when it comes to weight. I added a linthicum thumbhole stock to my mrod and unfortunately it made it heavier instead of lighter. Maybe that is something crosman will announce next week; a lightweight stock alternative for the mrod. Well I'm hoping anyway.

Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."
