Would everyone who shoots .25 kindly post your rifle and your pellet of choice?

If you mean 75 feet, JSB Exact Quarter Bore is great in my Patriot.
Never shot it at 750 feet.

It depends on the barrel as every one is different but it may be safe to say the top 3 most accurate .25 pellets usually are (no particular order)- JSB Kings, H&N Barracuda's/Beeman Kodiaks, Crosman Domed.

My .25 Condor loves the Barracuda's over Kings at any usable speed. Great for me and my uses as the Kings are pretty light..

Edit: Might be safe to assume JSB Kings are usually the best shooting for .25's... Just not mine

JSB Exact Kings in all my quarterbore barrels.... even at speeds of just over 1000 fps.... My Hatsan will put them into dimes at 50 yards....

Hey Pastor John,

Happy 4th to you and yours, I only have two .25 cal Hatsans. My break barrel nitro piston (Hatsan 125 TH) shoots 25.4 JSB or AAs
About 650fps. However, I switched down to H&N FFT 19.1g pellets because the shoot everyday average of 745fps. The funny thing is no matter if that gun shoots 25, 4g or 19.1 they both shoot at 24.5 fpe. So with that said, I in my alledged wisdom choose to shoot the 19.1g because they have the same smacking power as the 25.4g but you get that extra 100fps faster to the target and they cost less.

Had to check my log book to see what my Galation .25 spins out, 822fps and splats at 39.02fpe with 25. 4 JSB or 818fps with the AA
At 37.83fpe. Keep in mind that gun has a bad air cylinder and is at Hatsan service for repair. But the strange thing is the 65 shots per fill.
I know they say 40 shots per fill at Hatsan. So I don't know where those extra 25 shots come from. The first day I got 65 shots, the last day I got 71 shots. The sad thing is when I get it back it probably will be shooting 40 shots, boo hiss.,

But unlike the Mrod, I can take my spare cylinder and shoot double shot limits on an outing. That is enough for 10, 13 pellet clips. 130 total shots against Mrods 1 what 10 round clip. Mrod carries 215cc and my Galation carries 2 255cc tubes. No offence Mrod owners. They are great guns if you teather them to your bottle.

Thanks Gator. I am thinking of trading my .22 barrel for a .25! So that's why I am curious! I can get more punch at distance out of the .25 about 10 fpe more out of my sniper vortex if it does 750 as posted! Lol

Hi Pastor John,

A very happy 4th to you, I am now the proud owner of four(4) .25 Hatsans and all I feed them is the JSB Kings 25.4 gr., although I am still breaking in the PCPs (one of them likes the Barracudas as much as the JSB Kings). As for the springers, I found that the energy levels stayed about the same between the .22 and the .25, with the .22 having a higher velocity. I use a heavier pellet in the (tuned)135 .22 (18.13 gr JSB) and am averaging a shade over 900 fps while my (untuned) factory 135 .25 with JSB 25.4 gr is averaging 746 fps. I have shot both out to 100+ yards to dispatch "red ears" and have found that they both hit hard and do the job with close to the same POA (.22 gets there a little quicker). I just like the .25s as the pellets are easier to handle. Good luck with the barrel change and get the 19" barrel instead of the Sniper barrel if you can as you will get a higher velocity with the longer barrel on your Sniper body (Sniper spring maxed out by the factory).

Oh, and my (tuned) Sniper 125 .25 is averaging 725 fps with JSB Kings 25.4 gr, 29.65 fpe. And it has accounted for its share of "red ears" and snakes!

I know real world shots can be close by appearances but probably wouldn't show up till you shot coyote or fox in the head at fifty yds or so! Thanks for your input!

Hey Pastor John,

This is just me and my advise is far from seasoned. With that said, I personally would be feeling a touch guilty popping a Coyote at that distance with 25fpe "Stock" break barrel.

If our daily storms ever let up and I can mow my 50 yard lane I will do a pentration check with my 125 TH Nitro Piston. I get these great 1" plywood 3 ft 6" remains from a guy who builds Orange/Citrus field picking transport bins. The make great target backings and last for a month or more of pellets passing through them from my PCPs.

My 125 is now, because it is broken in, seems to be burying ammo deeper or perhaps some may be passing through. If they now do pass through at 50 yards, then I would think they would be humane for larger critters.

I need to mow because the pasture grows seeming a 1/2" per day. Which hides those nasty Rattle Snakes. I hate hate hate snakes. I am such a wuz I get chills seeming them pop up in a photo. It goes away if I see one in my scope, lol.

I don't hunt ###EXCEPT### for Rattlers and Cotton Mouth. And saddly Armidillo, who dig up out lawns and I can't afford to step in one of their holes. With 12 screws and a plate in left ankle and 10 screws and a plate in my right ankle, I don't think there is room for any more hardware. I have a power burner Remington .22lr with a streamlight and a green laser and a 30 round banana magazine, custom configuration used exclusively for Armadillo.

I guess I only hunt for self defense. Love to rip up that paper though, "big smile".

That last photo was my 125 TH with UTG 200 Lumen lite and green laser. With that Walmart
CP 4x16x40 scope this thing weighs 12lbs EZ. I was trying to show my Armidillo power burner.

I am from south Louisiana and grew up hunting as a kid! From my experience I wouldn't take the shot without it being behind the ear and it would drop like a lite was turned off! I shot a 500 lb hog with a .22
Right behind the ear and it looked like his legs broke at one time he hit the ground so fast! That was with a pistole if it would have been a rifle it would have more knock down power! So I am only taking shots I know would drop any animal including squirrels or rabbits. I learned the hard way to drop them or leave them!

I just looked at your current Hatsan. Have you looked at shooting the Kodiak 21.14g heavy .22 rounds.

I shoot those in my AT44w-10 .22 pcp. They slow that little mini monster down for 25 yard groups like no other pellets that I have tried. When I go to 50 yards she likes the JSB 18.xx

But you might ask and see if anyone has cronied your model with a Kodiak 21.14. Might save you the hassel of the barrel change? I guess some math wiz might give you a close guess but the actual test might be more of a sure thing answer.

PJ, I just looked at a calculator showing if you shot a 21/22g in your gun and it drops your fps to SAY 750fps your current setup would be putting out about 26fpe.

Up the page is hinting at the same thing. I think if I were in your shoes, Sir, I would buy a tin of heavy pellets and give them a try. If you don't have access to a crony maybe try a pentration test on a piece of 3/4" plywood or OSB.?

Just got to thinking about the math. If you shoot the 21.14g and say that drops your .22 down to 750fps, the calculator shows about 26fpe. I am no way any kind of AG guru, but buddy, I think I would buy a $9.00 tin of 21-22g pellets and if you don't have a crony, shoot them into a wood test substance. It just seems like it would maybe do the "cheap trick" for ya.

John, my Umarex Octane shoots Field Target Trophy 19.91 at about 775 fps and loves them. It does well with JSB 25 grain as well, but the FTT shoot a bit flatter and just as accurate.

My Mrod will shoot dimes at 55 yards if i do my part, at any FPS between 740 or 860 FPS average using JSB 25.4 Grain exacts. The 27.8 Benjamin's work well also just a little bit slower.

My modded Discovery with regulator set at 1800 PSI will shoot the JSB 22 cal. 25.4 grains at 740 FPS and 1/2" groups at 50 yards. Thats around 30 FPE.

The .25 cals all seem to have way better barrels for accuracy from what I have seen in a lot of posts on the net.

I, too, have had very good results with the JSB Kings 25.4 grain pellets in all my Hatsan rifles but in particular my 125th springer likes the Hatsan Vortex pellets. They are pretty light at 19.91 grains but shoot flat and accurate. They really do seem made for the .25 caliber Hatsan springers, the pellets have much less pellet fit problems than some of the other brands in my 125, I have no definetive proof that these are the pellets Hatsan uses to test their rifles but I assume they are since velocity wise I can shoot in the 750 fps range with these only out of my springer. Not sure why Pyramyd Air doesn't carry them, but Airgun Depot does.
