I had one in .22 - should have never sold it! I use H&N green pellets in it, a little lighter ammo, and it would punch thru both sides of a tin can at 30 yards. I think with light pellets it's a REALLY nice little gun - but have not shot one in .177 to compare.
Why not just buy a Barrel? cheaper ..and you if don't like it you won't have a bunch of money invested.http://www.specialtyshootingsportsoutdoors.com/air-gun-parts/weihrauch/barrels.htmlIf you go this route , call them and order it with a new cocking arm and have them attach it....makes for a one two and you're done swap.JMTCW,Petey

The fit, finish, operation, and accuracy is everything you would expect from HW. Everything else I shoot is .22, so I figured that would be a good option. I'm not disappointed with this little rifle, but .22 is asking a bit much from such a small spring/compression chamber. I've been feeding it AA Falcon domes, and it does ok -- just don't expect distances out of it like you might with an R1. I'd be interested to see what it would do as a .177
