I just want to buy and shoot a gun right now, and not tinker or tune. Are there any models that you can just shoot, that won't have a lot of buzz and twang out of the box?

There are probably several the the Air Arms Pro-Sport .177 or .22 comes to mind. Mine out of the box was accurate and just a thump when fired, or any shrouded PCP just be prepared to spend money either way.

My xs 25 from mm at FD didn't have the slightest bit of buzz or twang, my rws 34 was so twangy it gave me a head ache.
I've heard the .177 walther lgv is twangy but the .22 is not. I know if I shot anything lighter than 14 grain pellets in my Steoger x20 it had a slight twang. I guess really it all depends on how much you want to spend

Best way to ensure that the rifle you receive won't need any tuning is to buy one, have it shipped to someone to tune it, then have them ship it to you.
You can save a step and like Steve said, buy a rifle from Flying Dragon and have Mike tune it while it's there.
Otherwise, it's a roll of the dice, no matter how much you spend.

The reason of the buzz/twang, is the mass produced springs. They make the guides and tophat an average fit size, and slather in generic lube regimen, and ship it. The custom sized guides, and specific applied lube areas and type, are what rectify all that. Plus the benefits of a deburr, smoothing out, and voodoo tuners do while apart, will add to the lifespan.

My Dianna 34 compact .177 with T06 has terrible buzz and twang. Don't like to shoot it at all. Def needs a tune.

The Vortec kit untwanged my 460 no buzz or twang after my home tune. I did after the stock spring broke near the top hat semi my fault for not using heavy pellets 8 to 10.4 gr work best

Yes, I need to do something. It just sits. I filled the stock, ran a tin hoping it would settle down a bit. Didn't happen.

This is what I've done and I swear by it!
You can spend over $500 and still get a twanger! Might smooth out after a couple of tins and it might not!
I have had new rifles shipped to a tuner. He'll fire it stock then tear it down polish internals and install Vortek kits in them.
Did this a few times and got at least 20,000 rounds trouble free out of each! No bounce, buzz, twang or drawn out break in.
All depends what you're looking for and $$$

As long as you are fairly handy with tools and use a spring compressor the kit is about $80 and even with meticulous attention to detail an hour or so will give decent results just clean and polish all internal parts while the rifle is disassembled

For more than 20 years of my life, I sat in a radar trailer within 500 feet of the centerline of a runway controlling jet aircraft with after-burners. DB levels well over 300. CHS as documented by Air Force flight surgeons. Twang? Buzz? I am lucky to hear the pellet hit the target. But (This is important), you don't have to tell me twice when it is time to eat...

I had a brand new Air Arms TX200MKIII that right out the box had more twang than a country music band.

I paid $650 for it too. I am not a tinkerer, and I refused to sink any more money into it, so I sold it. My regret was buying it in the first place. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone PCP or HPA. That was my bad for jumping in too fast. But I will say it was a nice gun as far as fit and finish. Too bad Air Arms dropped the ball in my case. Now they have a negative reviewer in me.

Just go with a gas ram power plant. No spring, no twang. Almost every spring gun that I've shot out of the box could use a lube tune right off the bat. Most have little or no lube on the spring. How much extra could it cost the manufacturers to put a little grease on the spring?

I'd go gas ram - but most of them are a little on the lower quality side - and the HW is out of my price range.

I really considered the new BSA gas ram models - but can't get enough feedback on them yet, and I don't want to be the guinea pig.

Kinda subjective question, with variables...
What do you wanna do with it? A good SSP like the Daisy Avanti 853...on up in price...are competition accurate and easy to shoot. What power range are you looking for? Maybe a little more input?
Edit: Don't know what you own now, or if you are tied down to a spring rifle. Or if you have cost restrictions. All ears here

Target work and squirrel hunting this fall - sold all my springers, and may not go back. Considering a 397 or 392, but still like break barrels too.
