Going Mobile - Gear for Hauling Rifle, Pump etc

Got my replacement .25 Sumatra Carbine, and I'm itching to take it out into the wilderness and breath some fresh air and plink, hunt etc.

I have Hill Pump, and a bunch of pellets, and am trying to figure out how to mobile without overloading myself. Any of you guys haul a rifle and pump into the field? How do you carry them?

The Sumatra got a nice leather sling, and so I know how I'll carry it. Wondering about a backpack perhaps with some sort of strap system. Of course I'll want to carry a supply of pellets, water, munchies, etc.

I bought a small  backpack that includes a hydration pouch. Has plenty of  storage for my pellets and even a small  airtank if I wanted extra air.

You might look at something like this:

comes with 3 plastic boxes for fishing tackle but take them out and use elsewhere.  Room for tank, pellets, a couple drinks and snacks, etc.  Could create a strap system on it for a pump.

pumps are bulky for a day in the field. not many will haul a pump out on a field outing. and if you have a sucessful hunt and depending on the size of game you're hunting, it'll be a real burden to haul gun, pump, and a full gamebag.
most people just get a small 4500psi tank & pop it in a backpack.

hydration backpacks are about perfect sized for carrying a small 4500psi "peanut" tank, some pellets, and a couple bottles of drinking water. Some of them might work for carrying a pump, but i'm guessing that might be bulky and/or uncomfortable.

If you really must carry a pump, might it be possible to attach a sling to the pump, similar to your rifle sling ?
Then carry it over the other shoulder ?

I will be most likely be caring the pump with me while hunting  this fall as well.  I went to my local Wally World and jus picked up a camp back pack with a couple of straps. Has plenty of pockets for pellets and other accessories. Prob won't be the most the most comfortable thinh lugging a pump but it'll have to do for now.

pinch those pennies boys, & save up for at least a small ninja bottle. I did the pumping in the field bit a long time ago, & trust me it gets really old really quick.
& if you have the small bottle & a good pump, & can find a way to connect the 2, you can fill the bottle yourself.

Can't speak for Manny, but i generally don't carry the pump.  Will either hunt in "clover leaf" patterns (over lapping circles that lead back to the jeep, where the pump is...if I'm lucky enough to have gotten enough shots on a "leaf" to need a refill) or take one of the lower powered/high shot count guns that will last me though a typical hunt.

It's a long-long way to solid ground here (South Louisiana).  It's dead flat/ mud/march/swamp mostly (a few dry woods a hour or two away), so dry/firm level areas to use a pump are darned few and far between.

These guys are plain lazy! Just find a backpack with a way to carry the pump in it and you are good to go! Simple as that. Not nearly as heavy or "bulky" as they say and you are good for however long your seals last! Not how much air is in your tank.

Do not let these guys bum you out by sheer laziness!

Again, pumps are not heavy at all!

I.have a smaller benjiman bottle, started to.pump.it up with my hill pump,2000 pumps later I was at 800psi,had to try,never again,not even for money

   I have no shame in carrying a pump into the field,i fit it into my backpack with handle facing up tied to the top portion of the backpack so it doesn't fall backwards.I will usually carry it to my spots and then simply take off my backpack that also includes food,drinks,jacket.I also have a fanny pack that is with me always when hunting that I have equipped with water,pellets,tools,knife,maps,lighter etc,I would say it depends on what you will be hunting to decide what to bring.For me I am generally hunting Jackrabbits so a pump is not necessary to carry as my gun is good for well over 20 shots.For ground squirrels I generally will consider carrying the pump as I will be making more shots.

Maybe lazy...although I'll walk more my way.  But am hunting gray squirrels with an 8 a day limit, so the actual shot count of the rifle doesn't have to be all that great.  Now going out into the woods just to plink, shoot varmints, etc. would take a lot more shots, for that I tend towards one of the guns with a very high shot count and just leave the pump at home.

A Pump isn't heavy at all and will give unlimited amount of air,....Unlimited

done it a couple of times, take handle, plate and tube off, strap the main body on a pack and the rest into pockets, once the pack is on your back it's not much heavier than normal

I got a 20oz 1800psi bottle. Walmart has them for about $25. Gives me 5+ fills on my FD-PCP and fills from my 100cf tank. Never had a pump but I'm not opposed to one. if I ever hit the lottery, I'm going to get a shoebox.

Not lazy just old and tired I would rather carry a small 4500 psi tank good for about 12 or so refills, hand pumping is just way too much like work and when I am in the woods even walking the mountains work is the last thing I want to do. If I were a vigorous young stud like Manny  or if in survival mode then a hand pump would be essential

I use a little pull behind wagon, yes I look like a big kid carting it behind me.  But for the trails I travel between the points of interest I want to hunt, works for me.  That might work
