1740 & 1760??

I am looking into getting a couple of CO2 guns to tinker with, though I want .177 cal with out having to order a bolt and barrel.   I already plan on spending some money to make them into HPA (with the ability to fall back on CO2).

Thus I ask does Crosman still produce a 1740 and or a 1760 (and or equilivent at similar price to the 2240 and 2260?   If so who sales them (not listed on Crosmans site nor on Pyramyd Air)?

If you're going to tinker (meaning at min adding a steel breech) then the 2300KT with .177 barrel at about $88 from the Custom shop is what you want. You can't buy a 2240 and steel breech for that price.

Ah ok.   I keep forgetting which are 17xx and which are 13xx for the .177 cal guns.

So is either the 1760 or 1740 still produced?

I may end up going with a 2300KT though.

I don't think Crosman makes either anymore.  Best bet is the 2300kt or the 2400 with a .177 barrel.

No, they are no longer being produced. CCS 2300kt or 2400kt are the only .177 options available. Upside of CCS is that you get to build it as you like.

I do thank every one for there input.   And I have made my decision:

I am just going to get an FD-PCP instead.   Yes it is a little steeper of an initial cost, though by the time I convert a 2300KT to HPA I will have spent north of $350 for everything needed, and with the FD-PCP it is already a PCP and with the pump it costs less than $300.

If there are still any left I will be getting a first gen FD-PCP in .177 so that will only cost me $240.

David... i dont think that Mike has any 1st gen  XS 60... But do not dismiss the 2nd gen... I got one in .22 and it is a very nice rifle... worth every penny. The trigger is really nice, the safety works very well, mine is very accurate and shoots crosman prems at 840 fps... It is like shooting a rimfire with subsonics. i got mine zeroed with open sights at 50 yards and at 75 I gotta aim about 3 inches high... i am going to use it this squirrel season. I think it is a better gun than a disco... and i had both (several discos actually). expect about 15 consistent shots with HPA filling to 1500 psi.

Thank you for that.   Though I think that if Mike does not have any of the first gen FD-PCP's left, and/or if the pumps do not come back in stock I will just get a Crosman 1077 for now, do an HPA conversion for the 1077, then look into the FD-PCP again in the future.

I have spent the last few hours researching the Crosman 1077 as a backup possibility and what its limits are for modification.  Besides if I go with the 1077 I can get a Beeman P17 at the same time .

Just saw a 1760 over on the AA Classifieds.  Tempted to grab it, but I really don't need another xx60 right now.
