I've mentioned this before, but push is coming to shove.....   I want to shoot our 3 or 4 position smallbore league with an air rifle this year, mainly because of the smallbore ammunition shortage..... there isn't enough of it around to practice with.... The league leadership have given their permission to do so.   I've got an RWS Model 75 which I shoot all standing at home for rifle silhouette practice, but it's too awkward to cock in the positions.  I need a very accurate PCP......   so, which one should I buy?   (I can't afford a match rifle, and, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas anymore!  My apologies to George Burns!)   I'd like to go with a Discovery, but I think it's too light...  I'm not sure about the tuning of an M-Rod; how difficult would it be to make it hold the ten ring at 50'?  I think my choice is between the Crossman Challenger 2009 or the Crossman MAR 177 AR upper (I've got a good AR in my safe already...).

Anybody on here with any competition smallbore position experience?   What gun would you buy?

Do you think a RWS 48 side lever might work for you?  If a PCP and the needed accessories are to expensive.

My RWS Model 75 is a side-lever, and capable of match grade accuracy.....I can shoot it kneeling and standing, but prone's a struggle....

perhaps a used rws54,rws34, beeman r7, beeman r9 and rws 48 that Kailua mentioned ... many good chioces were presented to u some expensive some not so ,if u had friends that have those mentioned here maybe u could shoot there ags and see what better fits you i even recommend a slavia 634 there good out the box and gets better with usage trigger tune might be needed ...

First thing that popped in my head is a Marauder.  I read that the .25 is the most accurate out of the box due to the green mountain barrel.  Also, the .25's are supposed to do better in the wind.

To choose the right rifle for you, the distance you plan to shoot and the money you expect to spend would be considerations.  For a PCP you will need a pump at the very least, or you could use CO2.  You need to learn the gun because, unless it's regulated, the point of impact shifts a little as pressure drops.

Another option might be .17 HMR.  I find that is available even when .22 LR is not.  Savage puts out a nice line of them and they all seem to have adjustable triggers.  They are a bit hotter than a .22 LR but they shoot pretty flat.

that's odd, I find that locally it seems to be opposite, I've seen 22lr on shelves usually at least once a week (not always any sort of quantity though), meanwhile haven't seen any 17 HMR on the shelves. At any rate several good recommendations so far, if consider an Mrod, maybe a hatsan would do (some places seem to be clearing out the old non-moderated at44s at around the older style Mrod prices (by which I mean the ones without the factory HDD, valves changes and higher price)

How about a QB converted to HPA? You could buy one and send it to Mike at Flying Dragon for a workover and conversion. No fuss no muss.

Have you looked at the AA T200?   Same rifle as the CZ200.
