I like the Swiss Arms 1911. All the functions are the same as the real deal and the steps to break it down are the same.
It makes for a great training tool for the real gun. Also it shoots well for a BB pistol with a good blow back action.
Other than a little glitch with the magazine,which I need to fix,it is working fine.

The Swiss Arms has most of the features that are desirable but a rifled barrel and fully adjustable rear sight would make it more appealing.  Does POA equal POI?  Since there is no elevation adjustment this would influence my purchase.  What was the magazine problem?

POI is fairly close and depends on the shooter. Problem with magazine is after a while the mag would hang down just low enough,that it won't feed correctly,causing slide not to fully lock up. A bit of epoxy build up to the locating notch and some file or mill work,should fix this. I need to do it so I don't have to push it up with my pinky while shooting.

If you want an exact replica BB gun of a 1911, there is only one to buy. That is the Tanfoglio Witness. It even comes apart like the real thing. And buy the Daisy Avanti BBs. You will be glad you did. OH, and get the deal, spend a few moor dollars and get the extra mag, free BBs and the free CO2 carts. I really like mine.

I read somewhere that the Swiss Arms and Tanfoglio 1911 pistols are both made by KWC in Taiwan and are virtually identical.  The price and specs are also the same.

You are correct...the new version has the Swiss Arms label.  Just had mine out this afternoon and was giving me troubles on
locking up. Had to turn it upside down,then release slide for it to lock up all the way. It would only lack about a 1/16th of an inch,so the slide safety wouldn't engage. Later it cleared up for 1 mag of shooting.

Yes, get the witness, I have over 1000 rounds through mine with no issues.
It also has a hopup system similar to an airsoft gun that puts a backspin on the bb to give it improved accuracy and carry longer in flight using the Magnus effect..
(Look down the barrel and you see 2 small rubber pieces  that impinge on the path of the bb.)

You get about 50 good shots per co2, but it is really a load of fun..

There are others out there, but not many of them have the quality and the good trigger the Tanfoglio has.

All my newly acquired air guns are used.

I gave not bought a brand new one since about 2005 or so.

I love my Winchester. It is very close to my "real" 1911 except for the small mag. The price is reasonable at around $90. Mine has never leaked or jammed in the two years that I've owned it.

Some of the Witness reviewers online said that they had problems with the gun firing when the safety is switched off.  This sounds like a serious safety issue.  Anyone experienced this?  Other than that, this airgun sounds like the best choice for a 1911. 

I really want to like the Umarex Colt 1911 CO2 pellet version but at $200 the price is a bit high and the POI is an inch or so high.   The Winchester at $80 and free shipping with Amazon prime is very tempting.  It has gotten great reviews on many websites.  This is going to be a really tough decision.

I'll take a look at the reviews for the Winchester as well.

No, all the safeties on mine work as expected, the thumb safety, the grip safety, and the sear disconnect, when the slide is out of battery, it won't fire..

My winchester is the best bb pistol I have ever had.   Never had a malfunction, had it well over a year.  Only complaint is the safety is so easy to bump on but a pain in the rear to take off and that will get fixed when I get around to it.  I would just as soon not have a safety. It has a heavy  trigger with almost no movement.   john

After hours of extensive research and the recommendations here, I just bought the Winchester Model 11.  My wife seemed to think it was a good decision.  She likes to shoot my Colt 1991A1 (1911) with reduced 185gr loads so we can both enjoy it without having to go to the range.
