Hey guys. Got a couple 300's in the pilk sale. Disassembly was actually pretty dang easy. I'm buying an arctic spring and jm seals for both of them. What I am wondering is what else you can do internally to slick em up? Also, what kind of lube and where to apply it? I don't want to go cutting and chopping, but if there's tricks to tuning them, like deburring a piece or smoothing something, bending something, etc, I would like to know your secrets :-)
Btw, I had zero experience working on airguns or breaking them down, and it was a 40 minute deal to take one all the way down, and easy, so you other inexperienced guys, don't be afraid to do it yourself. I was going to mail it off, but decided I want to learn them myself so I would already know how when it came time to pull em back apart for maintenance.

I have asked the same thing here on this forum and elsewhere and have pretty much ended up empty handed. I am no tuner, just an average Joe. However, through my own research, I have seen others suggest the use of ARHQ clear tar for most of the lubing and maybe a little of their moly lube as well. Within one particular post (on another forum) a guy shared some of the lubes that FWB supposedly told him to use when he visited the factory. Don't take this as golden, just something that I read. It does, however, at the surface, seem like a good regimen (but I am no pro). Dri-Slide in the compression chamber and on the piston ring should be a good lube as it won't attract dust over time and contains moly and graphite, keeping things clean and fast. It appears to be a good product for this application. The ARHQ clear is a synthetic grease with PTFE, I believe, and would work well as the grease for the exterior compression tube and rifle internals; the moly grease would have use as well as suggested below.
His words:
Cocking lever hinges need a good quality gun oil and the sliding 'sledge' bearings require a low viscosity grease such as a moly grease or PTFE based synthetic grease.
The piston basically runs dry in the bore but a tiny drop of silicone super lube such as Beemans super lube won't hurt. Another good piston lube is dry slide.
The cocking lever safety ratchet should have a smear of moly grease.
DO NOT PUT ANY OIL NEAR THE TRIGGER MECHANISIM as it runs dry.
Wipe all blued metal work down with a rust inhibitor gun oil.
I'm sure you will get more advice on this, but this is what FWB told me to do when i visited the factory years ago
I must say, after recently shooting 2 FWB 300s rifles that were tuned by David Slade, both owned by my brother, that his work is awesome. The rifles are more quiet than a Red Ryder BB gun and beyond smooth. I really was impressed. You could always ask a tuner for some advice, but you may not get anywhere, as they have invested the time and have training to do things right. I would like to tune my twangy FWB 300s jr as well, and will probably follow the above regimen, when I do so; however, I can't vouch for what he wrote personally or from experience so take it with a grain of salt.

Your welcome,
Please keep me updated on anything you learn as you go along, and post your progress, I may be trying the same stuff before long. Your rifles look great, I wish I had ordered one as well.
Best of luck,

are maccari springs the only ones available, or can you find the dual spring somewhere?

Thanks. They look a lil different now
One stained and the other one done with spray on bedliner.
Hope for ultra tiny groups as soon as I get springs n seals.

The FWB dual springs are available. If you need a source, let me know. My brother ordered a set from a shooting store on E-bay. They stock all the seals as well.
