P17 rear sight fix

I can't find the post for the P17 rear sight fix. My sight screw turns and the sight moves up. I was thinking of using a nylon locking nut. Does anyone know what size the nut is?

I'd like to glue the nut so it doesn't turn. What is the best adhesive to use.

This should work for your application.... Loctite Blue.

Remove the screw and nut and take them both to the hardware store. You want to go to a store that has the racks of slide out trays of nuts ,bolts, screws, and a all kinds of other parts. You can match up a nut to your screw or a screw to match your nut. I opted for a pan head allen key screw with a nylon locking nut for my P17. Loctite is a good idea but it's going to be non adjustable because it's Loctited. The nylon nut is a good idea because it's still adjustable but will hold firmly. Hope this helps.

It is metric. Not positive but I think 4mm? 10-32 will go part the way on, don't ask me how I know.

Thanks guys, now about the adhesive (glue). I don't want the nut turning when I make adjustments with the slide closed. What works best on the plastic?

I forgot the size as it's been over 3 years. Most likely it will be metric because the seals are metric.

The nut should not turn as there is a 6 sided recess in the upper to hold it in placed.

Yes I have it working. If you push on the screw while adjusting it can come out of the hole. But it works. The original screw it too short for the locking nut. I made a new 4-70 screw by shaping a new head but I need to make a screw with a nicer screwdriver slot.

Yep - you need to hold up on the sight when attempting to adjust. Also I took a screw that the head was too big on and chucked it in my dremel. I then held a file to the side of it while spinning and made a perfect screw. Kinda like a poor man's lathe.

I just cleaned mine real good and super glued the nut in being careful not to get any in the threads. When I close the gun, I put my fore finger and thumb on either side of the sight as if I was pinching it. This way I'm not putting pressure on it to break the super glue loose.
