Different scope on my 880

Switched from a cheap Simmons scope to a cheap Tasco 4x scope. Tasco is brighter than Simmons, but since both are $10 scopes, I suspect it may be more a question of QC than brand. And yes - I'm a cheap old guy, but I also like the look of the small scope on the 880. A full-sized scope on an 880 looks more like a rifled scope than a scoped rifle. And the little 4x has a plain cross hair reticle which I prefer. I also prefer my guns to look like guns rather than Star Wars props or agricultural implements. Sign of old age.

I just got a Tasco 3-7 scope - I also like that is seems to be in proportion to the size of my 880.  Also, it seems to have a brighter picture than other cheapies.

I just got a Tasco 3-7 scope too. I like it a lot better than the 4x15 I replaced which was horrible. Well worth the 16 bucks at Wall-Mart. It's got the TV view. Kind of cool and retro I guess.

My used 880 came with a 4x32 gamo on it.

I put a centerpoint 4x32, while a great cheap scope it was like you said too big.

I dug through a junk drawer, and came up with the same 3x7 tasco wide view.

It does look better.

Is it just me, or does the 880 actually feel good when in your hand and when it is shouldered.

It has a lot of plastic, but when shouldering it, it is easy to look past that, and not notice..

And with the white line spacer accents, it has graceful lines..

I am delighted with my new 880. I expected it to feel cheap and flimsy. Instead its solid, feels good and even the pumping lever has minimal flex at 10 pumps. Daisy got this one right, as did the Chinese factory where it was built.

  I went Bushnel 4 x 32. With the stock filled with silicone the balance is perfect and the 4 x 32 scope give me a really nice sight picture. For me it is perfection. For the critters in it's crosshairs, not so much

I kind of silicone product? I've heard of people doing expanding spray foam. Did you put silicone or some other kind of filler in the forend pieces too?

 cheap clear caulking gun silicone from Home depot. Just remove the butt plate and fill the stock.

  No on the fore end. No where to put any.

  Foam will not add weight. I wanted added weight to help make offhand standing shooting easier. And it did.

 it just plain works on rabbits on down. I'm sure you have seen my hunting gate posts. If my prey is within 25 yards of my crosshairs it is going down in one shot.

After taking my 880 to the range, Saturday, and seeing it's possibilities at 25 yards, even through the Umarex bleary 4x scope.  I stopped at Walmart and got another 4-16x CENTERPOINT scope for it.  Luckily, the ends of the stock and barrel clear the ends.

Shot a tube and a half of silicon chalking into the stock.  It sure added a good feel to the rifle along with the monster scope.  The proof will be in the shooting.

  yup, makes it feel right and makes it less hold sensitive. Pre fill the stock I had a hard time holding on target offhand while standing.

I weighed the silicones beauty today and with the scope, she weighs right at 6 pounds.  By lubing around the trigger, I got it down from 6.5 to 5.5 pounds.

Silicone in stock really adds to feel of 880. Still got to do something about lawyer trigger.
