Always liked the combination of brass and walnut on re finished Benjamins

So I decided to re do mine as a point of difference to the collection as all our guns are blued it makes a real nice contrast with a nicely figured stock.
After painstakingly removing the nickel-ed blue with Hydrochloric acid, the brass then polished up beautifully with California Custom Purple polish, all the screws, cam plate, bolt etc were polished and blued to highlight the contrast between the brass and blue black.
I'm very pleased with the end result, it's so different and the warmth of the golden brass is quite complimentary to the color of the nicely figured stock.

Very nice. I, like you like that look too. I really like how the contrast of the blued steel and brass parts work together. You have some nice wood on that benji too. I did the same thing to my dad's 317 a couple of years ago. It's not as nice as yours but I just got it done a month before he passed away. Should have seen the big smile on his face when I showed it to him.

Polishing the brass kills the resale value. But it looks awesome!

I know but I'll never sell it, even though as you can see from my signature I've got heaps of other classic air guns this one is the stand out! and I reckon it'll out shoot the lot of them, the groups I've achieved with the open sights are equal to the target guns for sure.
Barry
Nice job too and glad to hear your dad liked it, thanks for letting us know, on another note mine started to oxidize which I expected and was willing to accept it aging like an old 1866 Yellowboy but I accidentally found purely by fluke that giving it a wipe over with Tri-flow oil the oxidization just wipes off! while leaving a protective film.

Thanks for the tip Andrew. I wipe mine down with eezox and that really slows the oxidation down to nothing.

I usually don't care much for the polished brass look, probably because the majority I see are "bubba" specials.
But this, with the black hardware, looks quite nice I must say.
Very good work sir.

Andrew and Barry,
Two gorgeous airguns! My '76 Sheridan has an exceptional walnut stock with nice figure and I've always felt the worn down black with brass showing detracted from it's potential. You've both given me something to shoot for. Silver Streak owners eat your heart out. Wow.

Hey Andrew,
I did that to my Benjamin 342 back in 1975. The bluing was wearing off and as a 10th grader I didn't know what to do. So I buffed the remaining bluing off using our 6" buffing wheel on a bench grinder. Used a lot of buffing compound......
Now......... touch it up once in awhile with Mother's Mag wheel compound.
As you have shown, the results are fantastic. At that point I had a Blue Streak, Silver Streak and the 342.
Cheers
