Locking wedge Beeman r9

Got a new Beeman R9 a few days ago.  Gun shoots great but sounds dry and has got a little spring twang.  Never dieseled or smoked.  Only have a couple hundred pellets thru it .  Whenever I open the barrel or close it, I get a grating noise coming from the locking wedge.  How hard is it to take the wedge out, clean and relube it?  Would you have to remove the barrel?  Any info would be  appreciated.   Thanks

No need to remove the "wedge". Simply grease it with molly paste and it will smooth out nicely with use.  Here is a pic of the spring loaded latch of my R9......

Thanks, I've been keeping it well lubed hoping the lube will work it's way back into the breech block where the noise is coming from.

Ed is basically telling you (I think) that as the gun gets used and breaks in the noise will go away.

To answer your initial question, yes you will have to remove the barrel to remove the wedge.  A parts breakdown should show how this is done.  It's not really major surgery.

Thanks Roadworthy for the clarification. I digressed from the original question!

The spring loaded detent can be removed by driving out the spring pin shown in this pic of a R9 barrel........

Keep in mind that the detent spring is rather stiff and takes some care when disassembling and reassembling........things can fly! Best to catch the detent in an old towel (or whatever) when the spring pin is driven out.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know.  I'll shoot it more and if the noise doesn't stop then I'll take the wedge out.
