1322 medalist

Hello all, I'm Mike and have been shooting all of my life (center fire) but since I moved to Fl I've given it up for the past 13 yrs.  I've lived in the country in Pa all of my life and down here in Fl there's just no place to shoot like back home.  Any way I got out my 1322 medalist thats been put away for a long time and started to shoot some tin cans and thought why not customize it and start playing around again. After a few rounds it wasn't even pushing the pellet  out the barrel so I started looking around to see all thats available for this gun and I was amazed how much you can get into this customizing. I;m about to get hooked I think. My first question is: is it worth it to customize this model or start with a new 1322? Mine has the pull back cocking knob on the rear and I think I read if you put a new receiver on it you can't use the bolt to cock it with,, is that true? Thanks...

Well for many of the mods you will likely want to start with a newer 1322.

Yes it is true that there is no provision for the bolt to pull back the hammer on that older 1322, and as such you will still have the use the nob to cock it separately even with the steel breech.

Though with a new 1322 for $55, and a steel breech for $40 (after shipping), then an additional $25 in materials and parts you can have one very powerful 1322.   Add another $25 if you want the  1399 stock.

Thanks David,  I was afraid of that. Guess I'll lay it to rest and hunt for a new one and get this project started. Maybe I'll look into other styles, possibly a Break-barrel pistol. Thanks again for your reply.

Seeing how your 1322 was setting for what 13 years the seals in it are most likely dried up  and it`s not holding go here to find your gun http://www.crosman.com/cs/manuals and look up all the seals call and order them 1-800-724-7486 when you call ask to order parts .Getting parts from Crosman this way will only cost you $4 shipping total most seals will only cost you about $1.15 each new seal should get that old baby shooting again

Thanks brzryder,  I was thinking about doing that actually just to keep it in service. I'm going to do that then that will give me more time to think about this new venture and what to decide on.

Here is a list of the part numbers you will need to rebuild your 1322
130-032
130-034
130-035
130-036
160-140
1322-017 spring
105-039 ball
One thing to watch for is the valve it has two holes one threaded on the bottom,and one on the top (not threaded) they must be 180 apart to line up. When you replace the seal in the valve be sure the align at 180 this means the valve may not be screwed together tightly
The threaded hole on the bottom indexes with the front screw for the trigger frame and the top hole is the transfer port (it is critical that it lines up perfectly )
There are many things you can do to improve this gun that cost only time WHEN YOU TAKE THIS GUN APART DO IT OVER A OLD TOWEL or cloth so parts don't go awol, When you remove the trigger frame be careful there is a very small spring and ball that can jump out and go missing go slow and watch above the safety (added to parts list better safe than sorry
1 polish the inside of the air tube ahead of and behind the valve clean up all the sharp edges that might damage the new pump cup (one of the parts) Polish the hammer as well and lube it with light grease
There many videos on utube under 1377 and 1322 mods
All the parts should be under $10 plus shipping $4 You will have a better than new gun that didn't cost $60

Thanks Ed,    Thanks for the part numbers, that will save some time. I've built a couple of 45 acp's yrs ago so I'm somewhat familiar with the internal workings although it's been a while.  I have already checked out the video's on youtube so with that and the help of you guys I can't go wrong.
