Fwb 124 pivot bolt

I ordered a new pivot bolt and lock screw from ARHQ. It seems that my originals keep loosening, which as I understand is a common issue with the 124. I never really paid attention when I was younger, but now notice it and watch as they move while I shoot. I even had my brother help me tighten the lock screw down yesterday pretty tight, after I cleaned the threads off with solvent. It still moved. The rifle shoots fine, tight groups even as this is happening. I thought I would at least try a new pivot bolt set, maybe the threads are in bad shape, in an attempt to slow this process, without resorting to loc tite.
I want to make sure that I am OK to remove the old pivot bolt without taking the entire gun apart. Most disassembly charts show the entire process, which starts with removing the trigger housing and the spring in a compressor, then removing the pivot bolt to get the barrel off. I am only interested in removing the pivot bolt for replacement, and if it is possible to do from an uncocked position. I assume it is, but would like to be safe.
Thanks,

I'm thinking that there may be a little pre-load tension on that pivot. I just looked at mine but I can't tell. Why not try removing it, if it comes out without a extra pressure you should be good. If there's tension on it, it will be hard to pull out. I'm wondering why you're having a problem with it, I've been shooting mine for over a year and have never had to tighten it.

This is a rifle that has been in the family since 1978. It has been shot a lot, and now (last year) finally tuned up and shooting again. Only now that I am older have I noticed the pivot bolt and screw moving. There could be wear in the block, however for now I am only going to address the bolt, as it may have wear as well on the threads. But I am no pro tuner.
My other 124 was tuned by Watts and the pivot on it has not moved, but of course he added some delrin washers and set the tension nice. It was a newer rifle to begin with and not shot quite so much.

I'm going out on a limb here as I've never seen the FWB 124. A Crosman break barrel has nylon pivot washers. Many replace them with brass. If the washers are too thin the pivot bolt will bottom out before actually getting tight. If your old washers have compressed too far you may be running into the same problem. New pivot washers of sturdier material could be called for.
I have replaced my nylon pivot washers with bronze. I have since had to thin them as they became too thin. The didn't actually wear as no shavings are in evidence. I have been told the softer metals actually "flow" so further shimming may be required in the future.

No preload, no problems. Needs a good hollow-ground screwdriver though or you will splay the slots. Perhaps yours is missing a washer.

Thanks,
I've got the bits, just wanted to be on the safe side... The rifle was pro tuned last year and should have washers. There is no side to side play.
Thanks again,
