I had forgotten how AWESOME it feels to really tuck into a carbine stock...I used to have a mini-14 turned scout rifle with a pistol scope....I'm reminded of that mini-14, it was one heck of a shooter and I put 5 rounds through my 2289g and all 5 were within about a 1/2" spot at about 15 yards or so in my garage I'm impressed already and i havent even put my steel breech on yet with my red dot!

   I was just as impressed with mine straight out of the box. Getting used to the tiny carbine stock took a little time for me at 6 feet tall. But I adjusted fine

I can't wait to see what I can do with it once I get my red dot on it, if I don't do the red dot I'll be ordering the aftermarket rear sight that fits the dovetail mount on the steel breech

I foresee taking MANY rabbits and squirrels with the backpacker.

The only things I find as a negative with the gun are the sharp edges of the plastics, but its a $50 gun and a very simple solution.  Also, the pump arm pivot is quite flimsy lol but again, easily remedied.

I think you will learn to love this gun.     I like mine so much I am converting one into a 1389 (the .177 version of a 2289) with an 18 inch barrel (I put an 18 inch barrel on all of my 13xx, 2289, 1389 guns).

Buy some aluminum stack, cut it down on the lathe to under sized sections, tap some shallow holes for all thread, add a couple of nuts, a couple of O-Rings, and cut the slot and holes for the pump arm.  Presto home made FT piston.   And it will only cost you about $6.00 total.

As to the valve it is just a cut down Crosman valve so cut that flat nosed.

I must recommend against this, as I do not know your skills and am not there to watch you.

It takes to much time for me, about an hour of set up and half an hour of work, followed by another half hour of clean up.  This is why I am making all of the metal Cup pistons for my Crosman guns that do not yet have them at once, lower percentage of set up and clean up.

So I do not sell these.   Maybe once I have made enough that I can whip out 20 in a day, then I may start selling the pistons for around $15.00 (need to get paid for labor if I decide to do this).   Though if I ever do that I would expect very few customers as that is way way over priced.

Just chronied my backpacker, 480 with 14.3s and something that amazed me, with 12 pumps I get 420(5 shot avg) with 21gr kodiaks! that makes 8fpe at the muzz!  chairgun says the kodiak retains 4fpe out to 100yds, not that id ever take that shot, but that opens the door for lots of great shots at medium ranges   This thing is awesome.  My packpacker is still completely stock too, pretty impressive
