Daisy X53

I picked up a NIB Daisy 853 with Monte Carlo stock in the Anniston store this afternoon for $165 OTD. If I can get it to shoot as well as the CMP armorers got my 'used' CMP Daisy 853 to shoot, I will be.....uh, er....well....simply orgasmic. 

We'll be home Monday at which time, I'll begin refinishing the stock and work on its extension and refine the trigger prior to heading to 48° NORTH for the summer.

Does anyone know the part number for the Daisy 753 diopter rear sight?

I'm hoping that's the case.  Although the gun is NIB, it is still 17-20 years old and her innards are probably dried out.  Once I make contact with Daisy, I'll probably order replacement rings, seals, etc., too.

To go with the 753 rear sight, you will need to replace the 853 barrel weight and front sight with the one for the 753. 
The 853 sight are lower than the 753 sights.

To go with the 753 rear sight, you will need to replace the 853 barrel weight and front sight with the one for the 753. 
The 853 sight are lower than the 753 sights.

Can't remember where I got this from.  May have sent from Daisy when I requested info for my 753.  Hope it helps.  Note: most parts are listed with 853 part #s.

Just let's you know if it's a daisy barrel (953) or an avanti/LW barrel. (753/853).

Since the barrels are interchangeable, it's possible for a used gun to end up with non-LW barrel. That said, the 953 barrel is also very good.

I have a used Daisy 853 and a NIB 853 from CMP.  I'm gonna' assume they both have the LW barrel because that's what I want 'em to have.  When we get settled at the end of  this month, I'm thinking of ordering the 753 front and rear sights for the 20 year old, NIB 853 with Monte Carlo stock.

Well there are other ways to tell, the LW barrel is about a 1 in 17 twist and has 12 lands and grooves and is choked, the daisy barrel is

one in 15 twist  has 10 lands and grooves and is not choked.


I have my U.S. shooting team 953( basically an 853) up to 525 fps with Crosman 7.4g hunting points, if it had the Daisy barrel the faster it

shoots the closer it gets to being over stabilized and losing accuracy. The 1 in 15 twist is what helps the Daisy barrel be accurate at low fps at

ten meters.

The LW barrel stays accurate at the higher speeds that help accuracy at further distance.

here is a 25 yard side rested 5 shot group I did just after finishing the mods ( from 425 fps to 525 fps with 7.4g) the low shot was me not the rifle...

A side note. It will send the Daisy 7.2g pointed downrange at 550 fps but they curve wild after about 10 yards It is fun to watch  but at 20 yards a five shot group is 10" or so...

7.9 and 10.3 grain CPHP are accurate also but slower of course...

I thought mine was put together from parts it has a 953 receiver and the rest is 853 then a member here found an ad for the U.S. Shooting

team 953 and 777s that were made in 1984-85. and yep our serial numbers said his was an 84 and mine was an 85.

I had pushed a pellet thru(I always want to see how the pellet engages) and knew it was choked. So I emailed daisy about any info last year

and the ident thing is what they sent me.

My 20 year old, NIB Daisy Powerline 853:

She might have 50 various pellets through her so far, first indications are that she likes Crosman Premier HP better than the more expensive ones.  She chronied 510 fps with Air Arms 7.3 gr and 480 with JPS 8.4 Exacts.  Maybe her innards aren't dried out after all.  Whether she has a LW barrel or not, I dunno'.
