Hey hey! Been too busy testing pellets and doing other things to spend a lot of time here this past week+, but I got the sampler from SS and I've got some informal results. The pellets that are showing the best performance in my new Diana 34 are (in no particular order):
RWS Super-Mag
Beeman Kodiak
Beeman FTS Double Gold
Beeman Kodiak Double Gold
CPHP (not in sampler, I had a tin of these on hand)
RWS Meisterkugeln
When I'm focused and shooting well I can get 5 shots of each type in a 1" group at 30yds in a moderate wind (wind speed today varied from 0-13mph, groups measured from centers of furthest hits). I don't have a real benchrest or gun vice, just a folded up blanket on the windowsill. Me happy!
Dunno if I can get them any tighter than that, but it seems the RWS Super-Mags and the Double Golds (either kind) have the most potential... I'll throw the Kodiaks in there too. Still have some of each left, so I can do some more testing. Just wish I had 20 of any of them leftover for this month's match.
What surprised me with the sampler was how many pellets had bent skirts. The Predators are a mess! Found a few that were in good shape, they look really cool, and they shot pretty well, but I think I'll pass on those due to their assumed fragility. Regardless, I've got a good selection to choose from for future shooting so all in all, things are going very well.
I'm sitting on a couple targets for the 30yd bench match shot with Meisterkugeln, but I'm gonna give the CPHPs a try since I have so many of them. My only problem now is deciding which to buy more of!
Yeah, life's tough.

So what do you think of your 34 compact? Is she scoped out? I've found that most of the same pellets you mentioned are very consistent and not deformed to badly, with the exception of the crosmans as they are extremely inconsistent in accuracy in all of my guns. JSB is another high quality pellet worth trying. Jeff

Tom, not to worry. I have a bunch of mid weights on hand (CPHP & Meisterkugeln) and prefer them anyway. Too much drop on the mags fro my taste.
Reb, I love it! The pellets that are shooting well are also in very good shape, even the CPHP. Not prefect, just good. The JSBs don't seem to be all that hot for me so far. I've still got about a dozen of each left in the sampler, so I'm not done trying them out. Scope is doing it's job very well. The CPHPs, Double Gold, & Meisterkugeln all hit very close to the same height, which is nice so I don't really have to make any adjustments between the three.
I was surprised to find the Crosman shot as well as they did. The only reason I had some on hand was I tried them out in my old 34 and they stunk! Not so in the compact... so far.

I sure wish i could get the crosmans to shoot well without having to size every pellet. Some drop right in the barrel, others have to get pushed in and some are inbetween. The destroyer was more consistent but i'll bet they have less machines producing them. If only they would box the pellets according to the variences produced by their equipment. With lot #'s or something. Better yet would be to make all their pellets the exact same size....
I really really want to use crosman pellets but every time i try another batch i throw my hands up and swear to give up on them.
Do you have any pics of your 34? I like how they shortened those models down, sure makes them easier to transport, i can't carry any of my rws gun out of the house using a shoulder sling as i nail the top of every doorway unless i almost get on my knees.... longest guns i've ever carried, what is it about germans and 4 ft long guns??

Posted some pics here when it first arrived:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,213.0.html
btw, the Beeman Coated pellets in the pic shoot like garbage in the compact. They were very good in the longer one. I only shoot in my backyard, transportation ain't been an issue.
I'm shocked at how well the crosmans are doing. I had sworn off them too after trying them in the old 34. Assumed they'd be &^^& in this one too. Just more proof that every rifle is different.
I read somewhere that the crosmans in the cardboard box all come from the same batch... might've been here, might've been at one of the many sales sites. I was also reading that some other brands are grouped by batches as well, but... my brain is full of disorganized pellet information so don't quote me on that.
