What chrony is affordable but accurate for tuning? The local paintball guy sells a Prochrony I believe it is called. I was going to borrow one but then jumped in with both feet and ordered a bunch of custom parts and high end scopes so might as well get the chrony so I don't have to rush. I already dropped a ton on tins and tins of pellets. I also need to upgrade my tanks. I have the ninja fill kit and two other tanks but I am only getting about five fills off my tanks so 15 fills at most and of the two paintball shops that fill local only one pushes it up to 4500 the other is kind of a rough shop and they only filled to 3800 last time. I also noticed when I filled the last time I purged the ill line and my gauge dropped to 2800 psi but I don't trust the Synrod gauge anyway. Man this is getting expensive.

I just took hold of a new chrony beta, the blue one. Purchaced it from pyramid air for around $110 I think, not to bad really.

Is the software worth it? I was thinking of buying the unit and maybe a remote set and just going from there. Actually at first I thought of just buying the Chrony and I think it records at least a few strings on it's own if I am not mistaken.

Have seen a few guys that have put some LED lights under the light defusers and have gotten the chrony's to work indoors. So no need to spend the extra $60 or so on the indoor kit, when you can buy two $3 puck lights.

I've had five Shooting Chronys since the mid 80s and now have a Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital. I would never go back to the Shooting Chrony brand since using a ProChrono Digital. My ProChrono Digital is much more user friendly, has more shot storage and is less light sensitive than any of the Shooting Chronys I had.

The ProChrono also has a much larger field of detection. Someone asked if it was worth it to buy the software, I have to ask myself everyday is anything in this obsession "worth it"? 8-) Relative term, I guess.
The software is certainly not necessary, just a nice way to store your data, and print out whatever you care to. Convenient would be the term I would use. If you just get the Chrono itself, your good to go, but if you don't have the printer or software, then you will have to manually write or type your data out. The remote is also a nice convenience, if you don't get the software, then you don't have to keep getting up to push buttons.
The light system ... yes, absolutely you can make your own, but this is my take on the matter. If you can afford it, or care to afford it, I like to purchase the accessories that were, hopefully, designed by engineers to work the best with that particular product. If I am buying a Chrono, I can only assume it will read correctly and accurately if I stick to OEM accessories. If I make a light kit, do I know for sure I am getting accurate readings? I might be wasting money here, and these manufacturers love to see me coming, but in my own world I have confidence in the product. This is getting to be TMI.
