Can you use one of those pancake compressors that you'd use for an air nailer?
Some guys have said that the pumps leak when boosting it off a compressor. I think if you use a small storage tank the pressure will go down as the pressure drops when the gun gets near 3000 psi it will be easier to pump with a lot less leakage

A large tank with 30-35psi to start. ends with 15-20psi and your gun is at say 3100-3200. Of course higher fills would be ending in lower booster tank psi. The point is it would require fewer strokes and the effort would be constant through out the filling cycle. Just more efficient all the way around. This will require some figurrin.
