not hard really do not need a video Just a few 1/8" fittings and a dryer or two from harbor freight. Feed the air through the dryer from compressor at about 20 psi into the hand pump air intake ,connect a female foster to the air  intake of the hand pump and viola instant boosted hand pump

  Sorry I couldn't post a picture but that is similar to what I did with the exception of a small portable oil less compressor. Mine feeds a Hill Pump and it does work

How about direct hook up from the compressor regulated to 20psi with the filter setup? Can this be done to the FX 3 stage pump?

I would think yes if you have a threaded air inlet om the pump. I was able to do it with a Hill Pump with just parts from Harbor Freight. I don't know for sure about the FX pump but it should be doable  I used a male foster fitting on the inlet to the Dryer and fed directly into the hose adapter of the hill pump Correction air inlet feeding the Hill Pump

Yes, hooked direct to a compressor with 20psi reg will work.  I pump inside and don't want the noise of the compressor.  Buddy tank works great for that, and during the humid summer months, acts as another moisture trap.

How much of a difference does this make in the number of strokes to fill the gun? And how much is pumping effort increased since you are now compressing a higher volume of air? My point being if it takes you 70 strokes at we'll say 50lbs of effort to fill gun x from 1700 to 2500psi, and when boosted takes 35 strokes at 100lbs to do the same, either way you're putting out 3500lbs of effort. Yes I know those terms probably aren't correct, but you get what I'm saying though.

Just don't think the FX is doable without some mods.
I hate to start modding the pump. Its not a bad pump to rebuild but I think some drilling and tapping is going to be needed on my 3 stage.

From doing 2K to 3K fills, save about 50% of strokes.  They are a little harder, and when getting close to 3K, I turn the feed psi down a little.   When filling from zero,  I turn psi up some, for the first 2K.

Do you have to worry about the moisture if you use just one dryer?

The compressor itself is your first moisture remover. Compressing air causes humidity to condense in the tank thus removing it from the air. I put compressor air into the buddy tank. It has a regulator with a moisture trap on the output of the tank. Then it goes into the HF desiccant filter on the Benji pump. The pump is also a moisture remover but I never see any moisture exhausted when I open the relief valve where it would collect. I live in Houston where it is always humid. My compressor is in the garage. I think my system removes most of the moisture before entering the Mrod tank. And think about this.....that air in the tank is going to be an ongoing decrease in pressure as you shoot. That too causes a lowering of relative humidity.

PS my desiccant crystals turn from blue to pink as they absorb water. I always replace it at the first sign of any pink. I heat my used crystals to dry them for reuse.

This is exactly what I do as well.
I think it is important to note that the air around you is about 14 psi unless you are at high altitude. 28 psi is only doubling the pressure from 1 atmosphere to 2. Therefore you are starting with double the pressure which cuts the pumps in half. You have doubled the efficiency of the pump.

Boosted my pump today. Pumped from 1500-3200 (gun gauge) and it took 65 pumps. Would have been over 100 not boosted. One thing though, Air is coming out of the pump the whole time so not all of the air from the compressor goes into the gun tube. Is that normal. I was running 25psi. Coming out of the compressor into HB desiccant filter, 3 feet air hose, adapters, and into the sun optics desiccant filter. Any idea if the air will be very dry. I don't know how well these desiccant filters work as the air passes thru them very quickly.

Mine too was blowing air out the entire time.  I stopped after a few pumps as I did not think it was right.  I have since gotten a tank, though am still interested in this for the day I run out of air in the tank as it is a 35 min drive to get to a scuba shop.

Does everyone have air blow when they use this mod ?

Yep...I boosted my Hill pump a while back and it has always leaked. Not a huge amount all at once, just a slow and steady "Hisssssssssss"...not really a big deal IMO

I had to pick up a new compressor today to replace my old one, so while I was at it I picked up the stuff to boost my Hill pump. All I have to say is WOW, big difference. It's almost like cheating, thanks guys.

LOL, Well, I'm not completely sure. But I will say that I think some of it is just the unknown what if's that go through some people's minds, basically just worrying about what could go wrong I suppose. And it's harder to pump of course, but I'm fairly heavy so I just use that to my advantage, along with pumping slower as well so it's a fair trade off for me. Still beats pumping for 60-70 strokes any day of the week. The only downfall is shooing a lot more pellets due to less pumping.
