Won this rifle on GB auction (Item=394406787). Surprised I did not get out-bid as I was just at the opening asking price of $125 and I saw several rifles in what looked to be in worse condition sell for a whole lot more.
Anyway, I am already anticipating it's arrival and formulating a plan for what to do with it when I get my mitts on it. Seller says it is 'a great working gun and holds pressure just fine.' I plan to just do a light cleaning and shoot it to see how accurate it is. If it looks promising, I may dig into it deeper. Since I am not at all familiar with these Sheridans, is there anything in particular I need to pay special attention to on a rifle this age? Should I tear it down for a thorough cleaning or just oil it and shoot as is?

Tim's secret Sauce from Mac1 airguns is what I use in my Dan.....
Check for barrel separation, the rear sight puts too much pressure on the solder joint and causes it to open up...

Solder joint separation, yes. If it pumps and holds air you're good. If not, seals (and the special tool to get at them) are readily available. Otherwise, it's one screw to get the stock off and a very simple, intuitive mechanism inside. The barrel is brass, so no metal brushes. I fixed up my 1977 Blue Streak about a year ago, and it was a breeze.

What they said.
Check the pivot points on the pump levers, thats where you're most likely to find worn or hollowed out linkages. If those are good, and it shoots, I wouldn't do anything to it. Well, make sure to get some of that secret sauce and put a drop or two on each of the pump linkages.
