Shooting BB's in the Crosman 2100, amazed at the accuracy.

Decided to shoot some of my surplus Daisy zinc coated BB's in my Crosman 2100 rifle yesterday, used a bench at the pistol range, distance 45 feet.  I was amazed at how well they shot, nice groups, seemed to be the same as my Crosman flat head pellets in accuracy.

Last year I shot at some targets that were around 90 yards away using BB's, had my scope on it then, while my hits were a foot or so off, the BB's did get close to my target, wow.  The You tube videos of people shooting their rifled barrel multi-pumps with BBs show bad accuracy in theirs.  About 30 years ago I used a borrowed 760 that had a smooth bore and some BB's shooting into water at an old mining pit, granted I had height to my advantage, but they went where I wanted them to go, perhaps BB's are the under appreciated step child in the accuracy neighborhood.

Anyone else have good luck shooting BBs in a rifled barrel?

with bbs it is all about how they fit in the barrel not rifling.  I have never shot bbs in any of my rifled barrel guns.

Some coaches would buy  a lot of barrel to get the best fitting ones that is how the Daisy 499 was developed from what I have read.

the 499 has a LW barrel...and is actually a .175 caliber barrel. That is true BB size as I have read... that is why when you drop the bb down the barrel, it takes about 3 seconds to slide all the way down... almost perfect fit and perfect seal.

I can not get my groups under 4 inches at 6 yards with ten pumps. If i pump it on 5 pumps it seems more accurate. any segestins on how to get better groups?

  Use pellets.    If you already are using pellets, try different ones, the rifle may not like what you're feeding it.     Also stabilize the inner barrel.

pellets are fine. it is just the bbs. I use copperhead bbs. does different kinds of bbs work better than others

2100/AM77  with the right pellet can be a great shooter....

  I have the AM77 and I get groups like that when I do my part. And that's without ever trying the more premium pellets in my guns. Mine's not only a great shooter, but is as reliable as an anvil after 6-7 years of use. Never shot a BB in it and never will.

I feel the same way about my 880, PM66, and 2100s. These things are stupid accurate and fun to shoot. We got a couple C02 pistols for BBs.

Couldn't agree more.... the 2100/am77 is a direct decedent of the 766, My first AG. I have always kept one of these on hand ever since......is it the greatest...No...but if you're willing to overlook a few imperfections and do your part you'll find a lot of bang for the buck.
