CFX is now a .20...

Just a quickie, sorry, no pics yet.  After much waffling, I finally machined and installed the .20 cal. barrel in my CFX today, and even got it shooting!  Hooray, it works :-)!  I still need to make a new rotary, and I need to figure out how to secure the cocking lever without a big, ugly muzzle brake.  Barrel ended up 15", for a rifle OAL of about 40".  The new barrel is a 16mm vs. the stock 15mm.  And I've got to say, I'm liking the balance with the shorter but heavier barrel.  This thing feels GOOD, and I've still got a ways to go ;-).

Already cut and remachined the cocking lever, need to hit the local hardware store tomorrow for some small screws, the retainer screw for the lever release is metric, and I don't have any tiny metric taps.  I need to get some more .20 pellets, all I have on hand is a partial tin of cheap Crosmans.  I also need to sort out the best spring, I've tried a couple, even modified one, but I'm not liking the results so far.  I may just reinstall the factory spring, seems like everything else I have on hand is too heavy or too light :-(.  I promise to get some pics up in the next few days.  Later.

Can't wait to hear how your groups look and see how it looks once you get it the rotary and muzzle brake fabricated,  and get her polished up and blued.
With that LW barrel and your bit of tuning thrown in for good measure, should be the premiere "no excuses" CFX.

Not sure I'm going to do a brake, Scott, I kind of like the look without, it's cleaner to my eye.  But how to make it work that way is still a bit of a mystery :-).  Later.

you COULD.... Drill a very shallow hole, about 1/4 inch diameter... and mabey 1/16th inch deep, indo the bottom side of the barrel at the muzzel, and somehow epoxy or glue a Neodymium magnet N55 Grade, and that would hold your cocking arm, very tight... the larger the magnet the stronger the holding force....

kind of like that? is how i envision it.  i imagine it would hold the cocking arm darn tight... if you drill a small depression on each the arm and the barel... and buy a black nickel coated magnet... it would be purdy too.

Exactly the kind of thing I had in mind, and with the 16mm barrel, I've got plenty of meat to work with.  Now I just need to find the right magnet.  That would be really clean looking, too.  Stay tuned :-)!

check this out dave....i dont have the machines or the skill to make one...i bought a muzzle break from martin....his new break for his cfx looks real sleak and nice.......fix barrel .20! oh man thats awesome!!!

Perfect!  And shipping wasn't a killer, I ordered 25 ea. of several sizes, bill was $16, shipping USPS Priority added $7.  I can live with that :-).  Been looking for an excuse to get a bunch of these on hand, anyway :-).  Although I think the one you originally posted is the best from a power standpoint, I'm not so sure it will work from a size standpoint, so I ordered some smaller ones, too.  Maybe 2 or 3 little ones will work as well as one big one, and be less visible.  Also will need a smaller recess in the barrel, 1/8"x1/16" are also available in black nickel.  Later, and thanks!
