XL 1100 scope adjustment
«

Hi Yall,
I'm new to the Forum, and the proud new owner of an XL 1100. After 50 break-in shots before mounting the provided Centerpoint scope, I mounted the scope and immediately shot two 3-shot groups of 3/8" at 10 meters. I'm thrilled at this consistency, EXCEPT that the 2 groups are 3 1/4" high! I'm afraid of trying to adjust my scope that much, but what do I do?
HELP! Ed

At what distance are you shooting?

You could use shim's in the ring's Ed, but try switching(front to back) the scope mount's first as that seem's to fix the problem alot of the time.
P.S. "Sorry" first off Welcome to the GTA

Welcome to the GTA. Have you already tried to adjust the scope and it won't adjust anymore, or did you just mount the scope and shoot the two groups? If you haven't tried to adjust the scope, this should be of help to you

I'd go ahead and adjust the scope, if you run out of adjustment, you could re-center the scope and go for the shims. Yes, the scopes seem to function a bit better when they are centered, but at the distances we are shooting at with the AG's, I think this is not as much of an issue. After finding your POI, you can re-zero the scope knobs to get a reference point.

I haven't adjusted the scope yet, I just mounted the scope and fired these two 3 shot groups at 10 meters (3/8" center to center). I'm concerned that 3 1/4" high at 34 feet requires a ton of clicks --- maybe too many.

Thats one you're going to have to try out to find out. Rather than counting clicks, you might try counting full revolutions of the elevation turret till you get close to the POI. You can always reverse the procedure to get back to square one if it's beyond adjustment.

"...but try switching(front to back) the scope mount's first as that seems to fix the problem alot of the time."
I switched the scope mounts front to back, fired another 3 shot 1/2" group at 34 feet, 3" high and 1" right. After a number of adjustments, and a total of 107 clicks down, and 43 left, I started hitting bullseyes!
I'm totally thrilled with my XL 1100: consistent 3/8" groups at 10 meters (34 feet) with JSB 15.9 grain Diablo Exact Jumbos ; cocking has smoothed out & eased up a bit; trigger is smooth (if long); noise is acceptable, recoil minimal.
Over the past 6 months I've followed the group's postings about Trail NP's and XL's, and find the info this group provides to be priceless.
Thanks for what you guys do. Much appreciated. Ed
