Small field carry refill tank for FD-PCP

Newby here gents so please be gentle. 

I am looking for a small lightweight tank with aparatatus to carry in the field for refilling my FD-PCP no more than one or two times from 1000psi back to 1500-1600 psi. I would like to be able to fill the tank from the high pressure hand pump, chunk it in the knapsack, and use it to top off the gun while hunting.

I spoke directly with Ninja Paintball and they certainly can put everything together to make this work for more than 3 times the price I paid for the rifle. I also know I can go to another gun with a larger, or interchangeable tank, but I really like Mike's little PCP.

So my question is have some of you long time darksiders come across something like this before, or can you point me in the right direction? I am sure there would be several other FD-PCP owners that might have an interest as well.

Would be fairly cheap,  but I ultimately passed because of the unknown quality.  Still thinking about it though.  I might trust it more with a better gauge.

You need 3 items.
Your tank.
An on/off valve with bleed capability for said tank.
A hose to with proper fitting to connect to your FDA-PCP.

You should (and someone more knowledgeable please correct me if I'm wrong) be able to go with a 3000psi Ninja tank regulated down to 1500psi for filling.

The issue is cost. Not counting shipping, you are probably looking at $75 for the tank, and another $75 or more for the on/off valve plus hose.

Even a 13 CI / 3000 psi tank would provide 5-6 top-up fills from 1000 to 1500 psi....

In my very humble opinion, the pump is not such a big deal to use for refills. I shoot around 15 good shots, and typically need only about 30 strokes to have the gun back at 1500. It's a matter of a couple of minutes at most. The pump has the added bonus to be probably lighter than a HP tank.
This is probably the main reason why I purchased this gun in the first place. Combined with the HP pump gives me a nice pcp at a very affordable price.

I think Steve is looking for something small he can carry in the field with him. I agree that pumps are great, and I love my FDA pump. Another option too is I think there was mention of a small hand pump at the recent SHOT show that was designed to be used in the field?

Crosman have been working for a while on a very efficient pump for the pcp guns that are 3000 psi or less. It is called turbo aire or something like that.
I have never been very enthusiastic for scuba tanks and all the hoses and yokes needed for standard 3000 psi guns. If the Crosman pump is competitively priced, I will buy it and start buying guns like Marauder or Hatsan BT65 QE.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. I would not mind pumping in the field at all if such a micro pump existed, but carrying my FD pump in the field is not feasible. I have seen a buddy bottle similar to what I envision from a UK based company, but does not quite match what I am looking for. The 13/3000 tank sounds fine, but the parts to make this work add up in cost quickly, so not sure if this can be done on my tentative $150.00 budget.

Benjamin sells a nice little tank for 90.00 ready to go.  I think its a 3000psi tank regulated to 2000psi.  I think it refills 5 or 6 times

Ok, so this Darksider affliction has now officially cost me some more money. I had a great conversion with Tim at MAC 1 and ordered a 13CI/3000 tank with 1600 psi regulated output with a custom build quick fill adaptor. This setup can be filled with the hand pump, should be very portable, and allow me to top off the FD-PCP while hunting in the field at a price point less than 1 1/2 times the cost of Mike's PCP. I will write a review once I receive and test the tank.

The other advantage you have now is that for bench shooting, you can keep it all tethered and have a really nice shot count.

is there a similar priced 1500 psi tank setup cuz that would be real nice

i just got mine and its a beast, i dont think i need to mess with my power at all if anything after chrony tests i might have to dial it back a bit to get a couple extra shots

Zero, I have seen a couple of posts where the FD PCP was pushed up to 2K but I am not ready to take that chance, so my setup will be regulated at 1600 psi output.

I have tuned my FD-PCP to shoot a 7 shot string in the mid to low 900 fps range within a 4% spread and will top off the gun after the 7th shot.

The gun is pretty close to 1000 after the 7 shots and the buddy tank will fill it back to 1600 psi about 5 times, which is more than enough for a hunting day in the field.

One thing I have learned after receiving the tank is pumping to 3000 psi,  even on a 13 CU tank,  is a real workout. Only takes 5 or 10 minutes, but you will appreciate Mike recommending 1500 psi for the FD-PCP. Pumping from 2000psi to 3000psi will put you in shape if you are not already there...

This may sound like a dumb question, but when you open the valve to fill, it only releases enough air to fill the tube to 1600-psi and then stops or do you have to monitor the psi on the gauge that came with the 13ci bottle?
