I am somewhat fortunate in that the two best local shops, while they did limit purchase quantities for a while, did not go with the 'gouge you in the posterior' price structure that the show vendors did.
Several of the show vendors are now suffering the repercussions of their attempt at profiteering. NO patronage.........

I am fortunate to have an excellent local gun store close by. I asked the owner a couple months ago about his pricing and availability of .22lr ammo. He mentioned that he had made the decision to hold his pricing to his normal markup based solely on his wholesale cost factor and that was why his prices were still in line with the pre-hysteria market prices only slightly higher because of natural market increases. He was emphatic that he would not take advantage of people by pricing his ammo too high. His personal response was to limit his limited supply to minimal amounts per customer so he could somewhat satisfy as many of his customers as possible. Last week, I was able to buy 2 50 round boxes of CCI Blazer for $2.50 per box as well as get 2 100count CCI Large Pistol Primers for $2.99 each!

I can't buy as much as I would want but his strategy has kept me shooting throughout this period of craziness. This one gun store now has many satisfied customers who I believe will continue to remain faithful in shopping there. AND, I have two new boxes of Blazers that I need to shoot up!

maybe all was too much. but i mean a lot are. wasnt trying to throw them all under the bus. bricks of ammo on gun broker going for $75 to way over $150 per brick. thats insane. i can buy .17 hmr ammo cheaper of late. good that you guys have a good local dealer charging normal prices.

Yes, fortunately they saw a way to demonstrate to customers that they care about repeat business and customer satisfaction VS the make it all and make it right now crowd.

It kills me, just like it does you, to see the absolute rump gouging prices some of those smackies are asking for their bricks.........

Then again, no one is holding a pistol to my head to buy from them, so I try to vote with my purchasing dollars!!

i agree about voting with my dollars. just wished prices would get back to normal. no way of finding boxes of even the american eagles for $2 a box. i would gladly buy 5. and 5 is a reasonable limit. some places are only allowing one.

but if noone would buy the stuff on gun broker, prices would come down. someone is buying the stuff. i can buy .223/5.56 ammo chaeper than .22 lr. lol

it is back on the shelves and reasonable at that.

I'm with you Chad - my Remington 597 is feeling neglected and I need to break in my ISSC M22 pistol! On the other hand, I had a good time applying loctite to my new Beeman RS2 - looking forward to shooting my first .22 springer!

$4 a box seems to be the going rate here in NY. I picked up 3 boxes of 100 mini mags at Wallyworld a couple weeks ago for 7.47 a box I think. It's getting almost impossible to buy 22 ammo here in NY thanks to Gov Cuomo's Safe Act. IF my walmart gets 22 ammo in their weekly shipment it's gone in 5 minutes. Guys are waiting for it 15 minutes before the girl wheels the weekly ammo shipment out to fill the case.

If it wasn't for my job/pension, I would have left New York a long long time ago!!!

The latest Gun Show in Dayton Ohio saw two Women with a table set up selling ammo that included bricks of American Eagle for $35 a brick of 500. They had 3 cases, and they didn't last long.
While their prices were less than most of the price gouging show dealers, it was still $.07 a round.

I have the unfortunate position of being in a very small town, only one gun store here (others come and go from time to time), and I cannot stand the old codger that runs it. He tried to rip me off the only time I've ever tried to buy from them on a firearm purchase, haven't been back since and I can only imagine what he's doing to folks on ammo pricing.

I have a fairly nice 10/22 that gets shot very rarely these days. Built it about 17 years ago as a cheap way to get out and shoot, at that time the bulk boxes at wally world were about $9 for 500rds, and it still shot even those very well. I'm hoping the Srod will fill that void for the future for punching holes in paper.

Funny, reading this and similar threads. I remember "breaking in" my Ruger 22/45 with a brick of 500 Remington Thunderbolts. Not a problem. Fella I shot with we had (literally) a blast that night. Still wish I coulda bought his Colt Gold Cup when he had to sell it.

just managed to get 4 boxes of 50 cci blazers for $12.

1st of any .22 ammo i have seen in a while. my local dealer had some when i picked up the kids Savage Rascal.

4 box limit. but that is reasonable. 1 box like some places are doing is not.
