Purchased a marauder .25!

I did it! I finally pulled the trigger! I purchased a synthetic marauder .25. I also purchased a hawk eclipse 8-25x50 scope to go with it! Can't wait to chase down those squirrels. I just have to wait a few days tell it gets to Houston.I got the set-up at airgun depot. Good customer service on the phone with Ryan. I have two questions for ya.
1. What's the ideal power setting for squirrels out to 100 yards
2. What yardage should I site my scope on. My shots will mostly be in the 25-65 yard range.
Thanks!

Congrats on the new rifle, the marauder is a sweet gun.
The ideal power setting has more to do with what the pellets can handle while still maintaining accuracy than what the gun can produce. JSB Kings are what mine likes and I have mine currently setup to shoot around 43fpe. I have not shot it at 100 yards as of yet but those kinds of ranges are rare in the woods here. The sight in will depend some on the FPS of the pellet. I sight in at 15 yards because that's what I have available indoors and it works out well for me. Download Chairgun if you haven't already.
And the main question is....do you have a chrony?
BTW, you will love the Hawke Eclipse.

I'm not saying you HAVE to have a chrony, but at some point in your PCP career you will find it to be a very very valuable tool. For now, there is nothing wrong with sighting in and shooting some to enjoy your new gun.

Nice choice for a first pcp, I have a .22 syrod. I live in NW Houston about 20 min away from you, I would love to know where you go out and shoot.
And yes a chrony is a must, but I enjoy shooting mine that I don't need it yet.

Your gun should have enough power out of the box to kill a squirrel at any reasonable range. 100 yards is a long way to shoot a squirrel but if you can hit him where you need to at that range you will kill him. If you look around youtube you'll find a video or two of people shooting prairie dogs at to 100 yards or so with the .25 mrod. What it will do to a prairie dog it should do to a squirrel. You'll see people (like myself) mod their Marauders to produce very high power levels but the truth is it isn't necessary. Your Marauder out of the box should be adequate.
The chrony will be useful later because it will help you fine-tune your gun to get more consistent velocities and maybe a better shot count. But for right now just enjoy your gun!
